Where to buy a Playstation 1 modchip?
Been scouring google for a while now without much luck (did find some nice install diagrams though )
Is there anywhere in england that sells the Stealth playstation 1 modchip or the Neo MultiMode Modchip for a 7 wire mod. Kitty |

I do not believe so. I bought my modchip from an Italian site about a year ago. I think the costs was around 5 euros.
I found it very hard trying to find somewhere in the UK that would sell modchips, even for the PSX. |

Is that italian site still active? maybe I will have to import one in then.
Anyone ever bought anything from http://www.modchipoutlet.com, they have exactly what I want. Last edited by Kitty; 25 November 2009 at 15:00. |

I can make them if you're in the UK. The PICs (12C508/509) cost about £1.99 from Maplin electronics, send me the right one with the return postage and I'll program it for you.
But if it is not a PSOne then you might as well use a Caetla cartridge. Last edited by alexh; 25 November 2009 at 15:22. |

Digikey still sell the 12c508a Pic chips, if you don't have a programmer then Alexh's offer would be the easiest route

Yup.
Just google for the HEX code for the Mod chip you want. You can find Multi-Mode 3 and Stealth 4 quite easily and countless others. It will be upto you to choose the one you want. A Caetla cartridge is a re-programmed Action Replay cartridge that just plugs into the back expansion slot. Once fitted a PS1 will play (any?) backups. Looking at the install picture it looks like the 7502 is the easier board to solder to, is it possible you program the chip so I can do their 8-wire Stealth IV Playstation Modchip install?
thats from modchipoutlet which is based on their 8-wire Stealth IV Playstation Modchip This is their details on that chip; The Stealth IV ModChip will allow games that have Anti-Mod protection to play inside of a Stealth IV modified PlayStation. If you want the latest in ModChip technology and your machine is a model 550x, 700x, 750x, 900x, this is the modchip for you. Also whats the difference between the 12c508a and the 12c509a pics? Which one should I order 12c508a or 12c509a ? |

For the price of the chip alone, you could probably buy a PS console second hand already chipped. You would have to look in the press, magazines to find one.

I changed the bios in a PSOne once to one from an earlier model, in order that I could fit a four-wire modchip. IIRC the bios in the PSOne was different and some of the modchips didn't work.

Ahh both the 7502 and 9002 require 4 wires from this modchip.

Still looks like simple install compaired to the 8 wire!
At least theres no tiny chip edges to solder on those two diagrams! they are your diagrams? So I dont need to do the link wires on either? |
