WB technical question...

I have downloaded all WHDLoad installed games, I use WinUAE and I have a problem. In WB, when I open games directories, all folders are set to: show all files, and I would like them to show only icons.

My question is: is there a way to change attributes globally for all subfolders in one main folder, so that all folders simultaneously change their preference from show all files to show only icons?

I know I can do this manually, but there are over 1500 folders...

One would have to write a program which does this. Workbench does not offer such an option by itself.

There's a program called ProcessIcon that has an option that might solve your problem.

CDD Copy DrawerData from REFICON to ICON. This size, position and view state of a drawer window (not of the icon). Only useful for drawers.

Another CLI utility called DoIcon has a feature you're looking for:

Features:
(...)
- Manipulation of the drawer viewmode (listed as icon, by name, date or size).
(...)
- All above mentioned functions can be used together with a file pattern (with optional recursive directory scanning)

Sounds like a winner to me.
