REQ : Anyone who remembers Settlers

Hi,

1) How do I get a prospector out

2) I can't remember what all the buildings do

3) Anyone got a scanned manual?

Thanks!!

ps thanks to LAROCK for a huge Tosec dump going on the Usenet right now.

I've moved this thread to the prb.Games forum.

If I remember correctly, there is a prospector's building. Once this is built, I think that the guy from it goes prospecting.

No there isn't.

You are refering to "Geologists" not "Prospectors" by the way. To send them out, make a flag near/on where you want them to look, and bring up the info screen for the flag. You should then be able to click on the Geologists head icon which will send them out of the castle to the site where they will look around for a while (send as many as you want. 6 are normally quite useful).

Nah - I can't suss it (thanks for your help so far)

So I select a flag

[I've just realised I've no idea how to link images to posts]

And then select the info screen (4th from left with computer monitor)

And then go to the screen where it tells me how many of each different kind of chap I have? (I think the geologist is the chap with the bowler). Clicking on any of these faces closes the screen with no indication that any action has been taken.

Am I getting warm...?

As far as I remember it's a right click that must be done on the flag. (Might get confused with the PC version of Settlers II but I think it worked the same). Or maybe was it hold right click then left click (and release all).

Its prety easy how those buildings work, or how to find it out.
Just start the tuturial last level, and you can do all you want whit being botherd by some enemy

I rember building Maps for settlers, but i don't know whare i put the editor, or how its named

If wanted i can make a List of what those buildings do, whit pics ofcourse

You can find a manual (not a scanned one, sorry) in LSD Docs 046.

Hmmm, the Zone! is only for temporary sharing, not a permanent storage area (and especially not 8 years later ).

Anyway, the manual is in the HoL entry:

I totally love this game!

I played through to level 14 (I think) a few weeks ago before getting stuck.

Would love it if someone could fix the WHDLoad version so you can enter passwords and save game names.

ah yes i remember the trouble with changing save names on the whdload version too. I think i got around it by switching to the earlier install package of the 2 found at whdownload. In any case i just remember that 1 of the 2(assuming english installs anyway) will not run into the problem .

@rmcin329

Cheers for the tip!

To confirm: The Settlers version dated 2007-02-19 works but I had to roll back to an earlier WHDLoad version. 15.2 seems to work ok. I only tested for half an hour but apart from some graphical glitches in the intro it seems perfect. Save game name and passwords are working. Hooray!

hmmn i'm not sure if mine has the same intro glitches or not, i set mine to skip the intro. Not sure why you had to go to an earlier whdload version though, i'm using the latest one with it, 17.0.

Ok, just been testing. It's only the intro that has issues with later WHDLoad versions. If you set custom1=1 to skip the intro it runs fine with 17.0 and 17.1.
