Serious problem with Lionheart save-state. :(

Yeah... sometimes it crashes if I reload, on these later levels.

I'm using the following release:

"lionheart_(1993)(thalion)(disk_1_of_4)[t_+16_atx]-amiga"

No cheats of any kind enabled in the trainer. ( that I can recall)

I have also included the log, so those of you with the know-how can have a look at that.

The error is very similar to the one I've had with earlier versions of WINUAE, but I thought those where fixed in 1.5.3 Beta 8?

Oh well... I hope someone has a low-down on what's causing this, as it's really, really annoying to still have this problem.

The disks on my website are dumped from my own original disks if you wanted to try those.

You playing from floppy disk or hard drive?

I've always played from hard drive using the original Thalion HD installer on the disks.

I have never needed it but there is a WHDload installer which claims to patch things for accelerators

I'm definitely playing from floppy, that is indeed my preference.

I might take that offer up, with the original dumps, but I'd like to try and solve this issue before I start switching releases and have to play trough several levels all over again.

Cheers for having a look tho mate.

No savestate to test?
So there are only random crashes? In which level does it start to crash after you load?

Hey Predi. Maybe it's better to check if a game is REALLY 100% error free, before you decide to play and notice later that it's broken somehow. The Gamebase Amiga Database is a good start. Belg sorted out a lot of crap cracks. Especially a lot of trained versiond doesn't work properly.

Never played a cracked Lionheart Version. Use the uncracked version, it works 100%. There is also a nice ingame cheat.

Lionheart had no copy protection so I doubt there was any need to patch the main game except to cheat.

Of course there is no protection. But these "crackers" needed their brownies. It also wouldn't surprise me if the trainers broken something in Lionheart.

Hmm...! Really? Well, I've got an older save-state yes, but that's almost an hour away from the crash. The crashed state is perpetually crashed if you load it.

I can add them both here tho, for your review.

Retro, so there's a list of good releases? And maybe an unprotected version or two? Is there some easy way to check the list of 100% working and bad cracks-list? I've looked there once or twice, but it seems to all be one big messy thread.

And Retro, that's quite some cheat...! 0_0 I would then be able to just select whatever level I want, huh?

It's hard work to sort out the fully working cracks. Belgarath did a good there. Of course he cannot verify any of the thousands games and game cracks.

Install Gambase v1.2 and the Gamebase Amiga database, it's better than trying a game crack blindly.

For the Lionheart cheat: Yep, you can select all levels, not only the worlds.

Yes, but a minor bug. You can complete it anyway. Never noticed this problem, just like mailman. These trained version suffers probably much more from untalented coder.

Retro: I might give that a try. We'll see. Only thing holding me back is the fact that I've already got far more apps on this comp. than I could possibly need. lol! I need to cull some stuff and chose carefully.

Boo boo: What kind of problem? And it's even on the original dump? :|

EDIT: Ok, I read the thread. Hmm... Does indeed seem to be minor. If I'm aware of it, save-states should easily overcome this problem, since then I simply cannot fail, as I have unlimited amounts of tries to get something right.

Hey, while we're at it... is there a way to speed up the loading-speed of the Amiga? The ultra-slow loading-times on these discs really break up the flow of game-play sometimes. Is there a turbo-key you can set, like on Kega Fusion, Mame and Zsnes? That would come in really, really handy.

EDIT2: I'm using the official dumps by AlexH, and they're working like a charm. I'm going to try increasing the floppy emu-speed quite a bit, and see if it'll be stable.

Lads, the problem is back. But it's slightly different this time. When I load the state now, it's semi-frozen, no graphical glitches, except the character-sprite is gone??

Could it be that I've increased the floppy-speed to 400%? I felt it was necessary since this game has such awful loading-times.

I'm including the log here, so you can have a look at it, should you be curious.

I'm really perplexed here... I'm using the official dumps, yet this happens??

i have the 1st retail version, and the 2nd, sold AFTER the magazine reviews. The main game program has been updated.

But the 1st one works 100%, i don't see what Boo boo try to say ?

and i don't know what thing the 2nd release correct/or/add to the game.

I suspect that some datas are corrupted in your version, can you please upload
it in the zone ? thx !

Well yes, it's not the same. I changed to AlexH's dump of the original uncracked, untrained discs, after him suggesting I should. It just seemed so logical, after all... if there's no protection, why bother with a crack?

I did say that I was using this in post #12.

And sadly I deleted the t+16 ATX version once I had his. Didn't seem like it was worth keeping it around really.

I used my other save-state btw, it was about 20 minutes prior to the corrupted one, so now I've played past the part I got stuck on. So far no problem yet... but it's strange, the problem comes and goes, depending almost on what level I'm on, or something.

Btw... lava-level in Lionheart? Outstandingly awesome. This has got to be THE best pixel-work on the Amiga. Amazing really!

Henk Nieborg's pixel artwork is brilliant. Yep, the Lava level looks best.
