Probably, but I think A1200 owners are more likely to accelerate their machine, while A500 owners mostly just add a Gotek and play games. That's my experience atleast.

The numbers sold by Commodore, sure the A500 and A500+ sold many more units. But if you're talking about real Amigas still in use today, then I believe it's a different story.

Also, even if I'm wrong Marlon_ did make a good point.

You are kind of limited with what you could do with a A500, since the bus is slower, there are no clock-ports etc and OCS/ECS instead of AGA.

Until now, the only way to get net on a A500 would be PLIP-Box or other parallel/serial solution.

There are a couple of ways to get ethernet on an A500. A Zorro card hacked into the edge connector or a clockport adapter and then clockport USB.

The ACA500plus gives a couple of clockports for network adapters. That said, I'm using a plipbox and it's pretty straightforward.

Interestingly, it also provides an A1200 expansion port. Perhaps I could run a vampire 1200 on the A500, although that's probably not a supported configuration!

What about releasing the 500 version for sale other than ebay bidding. That has gone on a long time.

Yup, the queue is not that long. I got my V500+ last weekend after waiting about 1½ month on that list.

Wow, didn't know. Why sell on ebay at same time, for those who don't want to wait.?

Why ebay sales happened is explained on my site few months ago.
Regarding V1200 designing such card is trivial, few days of work, what we are waiting are connectors. When we get them we can expect cards within same months when connectors arrive.

Yes, which requires a custom connector that's hard to get hold of apparently as it's not standard.

How is that possible? I am waiting 3 months... Do I need to be some kind of VIP to get it earlier?

I signed up shortly after the waiting list was created (about a week after I think) but don't remember it being 3 months.. Perhaps I feel it shorter than it actually was then.

Cool. So basically the design and features are set / done? When can we expect final specs to be revealed? :-)

i really dont understand why this all is so immediately pressing. let the team deliver what they have themselves appointed to. let the customers of currently supported platforms get satisfied and receive due support. the later another version of vampire for yet another hardware comes, the better, more tested, developed and feature reach it will be. waiting pays. there is so many things on amiga you can keep yourself occupied or help with in the meantime. sole posession of some gadget is not the fun of it..
