How do you drink a potion?

Edit: Hold the fire button and select the potion.

Graphics look great. I think the choice of music doesn't fit with the game and the character appears to be moving as though it is limping, is that deliberate?

Hopefully these are teething issues and will be improved for final version as otherwise it will be a disappointment some more eery or hollow music might suit this style of game.

I would assume he's moving one square at a time, as you tend to do in a Roguelike game.

Oh my bad... does the player have to keep pressing the direction of movement to progress or does this occur automatically if that direction is held?

Maybe this explains the 'limping':

Roguecraft is a modern turn-based roguelike

I was also a bit confused about the controls at first, but I got used to it. Could still be improved. The music is a bit too C64-ish with it's overly loud simple waveforms though.

Graphics are awesome, I do agree with the music (maybe H0ffmann can help out?), and perhaps adding some sound effects would be a great addition as well (slashing, hitting, missing picking up potions and gold etc.).

Awesome work so far!!

they should make it so the movement of the character is smooth i understand it's turn based but that doesn't mean the character cannot move smoothly it's really distracting

echoing feelings about music being bad

Superb WIP, wow !
The music seems kinda polarizing... Personally I quite like it !
Also, I appreciate the fact it gives a kind of urgency feeling, contrasting nicely with the turn based game.
Cheers !

Cool game. Nice art style. I posted a reply on Twitter but I'm going to mention it here too.. Any chance to get a warning when pressing the escape key rather than instantly ending the game?

Why would you want a warning when pressing ESCAPE?

I'll put it on the TODO-list.

We have updated Roguecraft today on the itch site. Lots of small fixes, smooth movement when there are no monsters in the room is one of them.

Just had a quick go and I have to say its very impressive. Great graphics and nice eerie music to go with it.

Excellent job!

If the mechanism is the same as in Rogue64, the colour/effect combinations are randomised each time you start a new game.

i think the ingame info currently says green=health and the other potions are random.
