Eek Demoscene and .... consoles ?!

Looking at this (incredible) site

http://www.pouet.net/index.php

i discovered that exists a demoscene for sonsoles like Playstation, Dreamcast, Genesis, Super Nintendo

For example this

http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=7520

is a trainer for a Super Nintendo game

Cracktros for games on CD and CARTRIDGE ?

How it works, am i missing something ?

P.S. I downloaded Playstation cracktros in .PSX file and i'd like to try it,
but my emulator use a lot of images but not this .PSX extension
Any idea ?

I think you can use trainers for Super Nintendo games if you have special floppy disk drive with copier or it's only for emulators.

If you're savvy you can also make a repro cart using the cracktros - yep even the genny scene has those although they were probably made on an Amiga

ePSXe (and almost all other PSX emulators I know) support PSX executables, if you're using ePSXe make sure you set the filter in the file requester to show all files, otherwise you won't see the *.psx files.

welcome to the real world, n00b
I recommend watching "Suicide Barbies" by TBL for the PSP.

I remember alot of the games I had for my SNES had cracktros.
Censor, Fairlight (IIRC) and especially Magical springs to mind.
Ah the good old SWC days.

Also (IIRC) the SNES demo 2.68Mhz was indeed coded on an Amiga.

By the end of the SNES scene every release had a cracktro with cheat trainer menu. Some of the cractro's were better than the games they were for.

N64 games also had cracktros.

Again all these games were intended to be used with cartridge emulators such as a SuperMagicom on the SNES and Doctor V64 on the N64.

All these platforms had intros/trainers, since most of the people producing them came from the c64/Amiga scenes of the past. From Gameboy to Dreamcast, almost any scene-related production you can name was created by someone with an amigac64-scene past, just sad that there was so little 'new blood' as the consoles grew in popularity

Most of the best tools were written on Amiga as well, Pan/Anthroxs stuff was good.

Oh bloody hell, I feel nostalgia sweeping over me again!

Pan, IIRC he did the music (cover of Rob Hubbard's Delta) for the SWC DX.

During the later PSX years, there were a lot of cracktros on releases.
At the moment, the ds scene has some cracktros. But only XPA is able to do some.Sadly SQUIRE dissapeard some time ago. They also did some ds cracktros.
