Guess the company/game/etc. name meaning...
I've just watched a movie, where the main character guy lost his sense of tasting. This 'sickness' was named: "Agnosy", with "ag" being the word for negation, and "gnosis" meaning (in greek they said) "sense of tasting".
The first thing that springed in my mind, after that, was: "Psygnosis"!!! So the secret behind this company name is the melange of words: "psychics" and "gnosis", right? Are there any more so interesting, examples of company/game/etc. names that hide a "deeper" meaning, you know of? If not why don't we try to play detective's and try to figure out some? |

I doubt he's wrong. Rather that the litteral translation of the word doesn't cover the broad/modern concept. IE agnostic has a modern meaning as an agnostic thinks it impossible to know the truth in matters (such as God). Last edited by spiff; 20 March 2005 at 21:08. |

The Psy stands for mind Gnosis is to know, so it's translated as 'to know the mind'
Psyclapse was a label of Psygnosis, I believe lapse is Latin in origin though, not Greek. |
