What's the matter? Accept some ads, help finance one of the finest Amiga sites we all use more or less frequently?
Don't care about the badge, It's the same over at a1k. Nothing's for free, accepting a few ads is the least I can do. |

I agree with PeterK a bit. But I also understand those badges. Anyway, it was a good idea to put hyperlink to this thread under the badge. It led me here

TBH, I don't care about the 'badges' either, but it does bother me to see this on my Public Profile page when it's simply not true:

Because you're a donator? Or because you don't support EAB?

Ah, must have mixed that up. The last two days were a little tricky.
I was originally addressing Peter's (and other posts) dealing with user classification etc. |

Must have missed this thread out of ignorance, of course I would be happy to view the ads (for the sake of this site running!).

Today some non-ads appeared on this site for me even when logged in and they are quite annoying.
They are non-ads in the way that it is a horizontal bar with only the text 'Ads not by this site' in it after every three posts. I have an Adblocker running so it might be replacing an ad with that text. What happened since they are now appearing? I despise ads which is why I donated money instead of having them shown. Edit: Just tried disabling the adblocker and now I get ads for saving forests, food disasters, tornado relief etc.. |

You're lucky, I get adds for men only gaming :s
I've resisted so far, because it guarantees me that I'll lose all my friends, and become very sad, because I won't want to stop playing. |

I found out that it was actually caused by a browser addon in Firefox called A2ZLyrics, which I most definitely did not install. After removing it, the ads have disappeared again. Now the question is how it got into my browser (and my program files folder as well actually). The only software I've installed lately came from sourceforge and they're generally quite reputable in my mind..

On a related note: I recently installed a rather unsuspicious application and it came with a nice 'change default search provider, homepage and toolbar' package without asking me Not hard to remove, but really annoying that they sneaked it in without asking. |
