Of course, I was hoping that one of these products would have that as an option...

Ah, found a site with loads and loads of "real" arcade acessories etc. There's a rotary joystick, maybe I could purchase one and hack my HotRodSE

http://www.happcontrols.com/joystick...ptical_joy.htm

However, the ones I remember were different with a octagonal rotary mechanism:

Heavy Barrel

Ikari Warriors

Midnight Resistence

A couple more of my favorites:

Elevator Action

Cosmo Gang the Video (kind of a kiddy/funny Galaga'88 clone)

@Damien:
I know for sure that I've seen a ikari-style rotary joystick in an online shop. Could've been a german, but I couldn't find it now. Anyway, you should ask at BYOAC. I'm sure you'll get one there.

@DamianD

Don't forget to get a spinner also. Games like Front Line, Tron, Tempest, Arkanoid, etc. all play much better with a propper spinner.

Hmmm, after thinking about it some more the one that I linked to from happcontrol is probably a better option as the joystick is still "normal". It would be pretty hard to use the "ikari warriors" one to pull of Street Fighter / King of Fighter moves...

Now, if only I was good with electronics I would attempt to mod my HotRodSE with one of these. Don't think I have the skills though

Yeah, the NeoGeo was awesome. Too bad it's no longer out there and all the game franchises of it seem to be turning into 3d. It's a shame because their most amazing feature was the pixel art.

I used to run a older version of Mame and had loads of old arcade games installed - all worked fine apart from Neo Geo games... due to a PC crash I have had to download and install Mame again and download all my roms - now I find that quite a number of neo geo roms run (I have the neo geo bios roms installed) but loads of the older games, defender phoenix, galaga wont run and those are the ones I really like... am I doing something wrong do you think?

I run Mame32 0114(April 2nd 2007) version - I dont recall what the last version I had was - any clues?
I really want the oldies back... !

It's strange that Metal Slug will run but not NBA Jam or Galaxian will run but not frogger...?

The current Tosec should do the trick. It may be you're trying to run deprecated rom dumps. You can check them on Romcenter or other rom managers.

I'll download a Rom checker and check them out - seems weird why this is happening - I get the roms from http://www.rom-world.com/ - next question, where would I get the latest Tosec from - is it just a question of checking out torrent sites?
