RJ Mical Interview

I don't know how many of you have already heard this interview but I found this thread over at DBF Interactive which links to this podcast. RJ starts talking about the work he did on the Amiga at about 2 hours in.

If you download the interview it should be just over 277 minutes long.

It is weird - I downloaded this and the file properties state; Duration - 1.10.39 - BitRate 64kbps - Size 15.8MB

In itunes it's length is stated as; 1.14.54 and RJ Mical starts talking about the Amiga in depth at around; 26.10.

I don't understand why this file is appearing in different sizes - my 15.8 download comes to an end when the interview is drawn to a close so I haven't missed anything...

Just started listening.. He's from Chicago which is awesome. It's a great city, lots of great stuff there but.. He's a Sox fan? THE SOX? I've never been so crushed to have a hero say something so..vile.. so.. despised..

*sigh*

Well that's it for me. Anyone want to buy a 500, 1200, both the new and old Lynx, and a Goldstar 3DO?

Wow, he had a Heathkit electronics lab? Well... Maybe I'll give him another shot. But so help me if he trashes Pizza Uno.

(Sorry, bit of local humor...)

Chicago White Sox, not Boston Red Sox... But I did get a chuckle that, even noting Chicago, the first Sox that pops to mind of someone from outside the country is Boston.

Intriguing interview. Thanks for posting it Matthew.
Mical really does have a VERY refreshing sense of enthusiasm when he talks, doesn't he?

Cool guy, and now I've learned a bit more about the creation of the Amiga, and the people that made it happen.

I know! As much as I love the Amiga Commodore were total dicks not to sign up and engineer the Suzy graphics chip from the Epyx Handy (which became Atari Lynx 3 years later). One of his finest pieces of work and technically stunning for something just a few years after the A1000 prototype chipset.

In an A1200 + Suzy with hardware graphics scaling it might have been possible to do a Doom clone. Certainly the 6502 3.6mhz Lynx has better/smoother Doom style engine in AvP prototype game for the system compared to anything on a stock A500.

I saw him in History of the Amiga video and he was on stage talking about the Atari/C= buyout years. He's a funny guy, certainly a character indeed
