And Akira is such a SHIT game, too. As it lacks the t-shirt it's not even a good collectable for completists. Anyone prepared to pay ANYTHING for it deserves all they get.

Ebay Madness

You talk about ebay madness. I have noticed that the Amiga 1200 computers
on ebay the A1200's are getting a little pricey these days. Some of the
bidders on ebay are going nuts. However, alot the Amiga hardware seems
to be going up in price. My biggest ebay pet peeve. When bidders go crazy!
What is your ebay pet peeve?

hummmm...this only seems to apply to ebay when i have sold amiga stuff.

But I hate it when you get loads of people emailing asking you to cancel the auction and sell it to them direct for a low price. PLUS i once got an email after selling an a4000 that i could not get working(red screen??) saying "it is clear that you do know alot about amigas" "red screens are just for hal"

The red screen on startup indicates a bad ROM chip; this can be solved by re-seating the Kickstart ROMs, or replacing them if that does not work. If the ROM has been soft-kicked into RAM, switching the Amiga off for 30 seconds solves the problem. More info here:

It's a shame prices people ask on ebay for old retro gear isnt what its actually worth. If I could sell off the hundreds of 72 pin simms, dozens of old scsi drives, dozens of old 486/p1/p2 class cpus and mobos for the prices some people ask then Id never have to work again

It's bloody crazy. People asking $40-ish for p133's, $30ish for p100's, $10 per 8meg sim (roughly).
DO people actually buy this gear? Up until now I just thought it was clueless people not understanding that old doesnt necessarily mean retro/collectable, and trying to cash in on the popularity of retro gear, but the sheer volume of those sorts of auctions now makes me wonder.

My pet eBay peeve is when they saye 'Very Rare...' in the heading.

A1200's, A2000's, A4000 are NOT rare.

A1000's, A2000 Keyboards, x-surf cards and hens teeth... now they're rare!

(anybody got a A2000 keyboard (UK) going cheap??)
