Just a thought... Will an Amiga 3000 Daughtboard work in an Amig 4000?

I know this so far :

Both daughterboards have 100 pins for the Zorro.
But the 3K has 86 pins for the video ports, while the 4K has 100 pins.
The 14 pins difference are video bits.
I think (dont shoot me on this) the 3K has 16 bit colour, where the 4K has 24 bit colour?
The last 14 pins are just RGB data.

So I`m thinking, as long as not wanting to use a high end gfx card in a 4K, maybe a 3K DB will work ?

No, don't try it, they are not compatible. If you need an A4000 daughterboard, usually you can find one cheaply from someone who has upgraded to a Mediator.

I`m redesigning the A3k board, so that its short, so that can put an Amiga 3000 in a checkmate1500+ case - as the original one is too high.

I was just wondering if the same card could be used to enable a 4000 to fit in a checkmate case too.

Fantastic idea! I recall that there are differences on the Zorro side as well.
You are limited to 2 slots total with the Checkmate case correct?
If so, then I recommend-no demand that you add the Prometheus to it as well. With just two PCI slots I could fit a PPC+Video card which is all I really need. So, do that. A4000 version first plz, and thanks.
