Virus on Tosec (Applications)

Just to say a virus corrupted all my hard disk after I reset my 4000. I just had to Format all the drive. Tried lots of Recover Software - including disksalv - but nothing. The disk disappeared. Then I tried HDtoolbox, and pffff it works. But zero files. I use virusz to check all the files. "All files ok".
Everything gone...

(Tried just for nostalgy: genesis, vista, prowrite and deluxe music (one of them should have a virus - vista???)).
Please beware with tosec, special if youre using real amigas. Arghhh. Since now, i will avoid ANY cracked application.

May not be a virus but bad utility (designed before harddrives were popular) that thought your hd was a floppy drive and for example tried to install new boot block to your hd and wiped the RDB..

Overwritten RDB also explains why partitions disappeared after reboot.

btw, most likely you would have been able to recover all files easily by restoring the RDB (there is utility somewhere that can find partitions automatically) but I guess it is too late now..

Last thing I checked from Tosec - Applications was AMOS and it had a virus.

I downloaded that disk from Planet-Emu.

The ones known to have virii are marked with a [v] flag & the virus descriptor. Anything not marked escaped the virus checker used (and 100% of the adf's were scanned).
