Probably been asked a thousand times..Bootable HDF?

So I've been trying for the past day to create a bootable HDF for AmigaOS 3.9. There are tons of tutorials that all make it seem very easy, but for me, it always fails and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

When booting from the Emergency Boot ADF, the drive appears, and I can install AmigaOS 3.9 on it. However upon reboot, after removing the OS 3.9 ADF and CDROM, I encounter various errors:
The Amiga simply shows the floppy disk animation
-or-
"Not a DOS disk in DH0" message
-or-
Blinking red Software Failure
-or-
The hard drive simply disappears and doesn't show up even when booting from the Emergency ADF.

Now if I use a Directory rather than an HDF, it works fine. I can install AmigaOS 3.9 and then boot from the virtual HDD directory no problem at all. But I need to use an HDF so I can transfer it easily in the future.

Also, if I use the pre-made HDF from ClassicWB, it works just fine. However it's only 500 MB in size. I need at least 1.5 GB.

Here you've got an empty 1,5Gb hdf that you can use:
