Printing in Windows 98 SE

I use WinUAE for non-games stuff and printing is important to me. I am amazed at what works in UAE, but I have not been able to get printing to work. I use the Cloanto distribution of UAE (V5) and use the launcher to configure it. For printing I have tried selecting the Game and I/O Ports tab and selecting my HP850C. However, using F12 within the emulation brings up the prompt (in Windows) that "the printer you have in this configuration is not valid on this machine".

Anyone know how to get printing working on V5/98 SE? I can't see why the emulation has to use the Windows spooler rather than use printer.device with the PC parallel port driver.

And suddenly, after dozens of attempts, it worked! Don't you just love computers? It waited until I had put a plea for help on the list before deciding to cooperate.

No need to offer any printing help for Win98 SE, any more.

Wink

That reminds me of a story friend of mine told me about dating back to when the Atari ST & A500 ruled the roost in home computers. Apparently, most of the problems that occured relatated to the chips/Motherboard becoming loose,so the PC "techs" answer at the time. Pick up the ST/500 about 30-40cms up in the air & drop it. Everything reseated & working no problems!!

Had a CD drive at work that wouldn't open the drawer - solution drop a foot onto the desk top, power up, low and behold it workes perfectly! spent 5 mins persuading a customer to try it, & he was stunned when it worked fine after that.
