I'm in full nostalgia mode lately, I keep remembering more and more stuff I had completely forgotten about.

Puppet Master, a collaboration between Dr. Dre and Cypress Hill frontman B-Real.

I never liked hip hop but Cypress Hill... they did or were part of some cool songs back in the day. Tequila Sunrise being my personal favourite, really catchy.

The topic of today is: Borderlands. Gearbox may have their evil side, but they know how to pick their music. I can listen to these all day every day.

First Aid Kit: My Silver Lining.
From: Tales from the Borderlands, end credits. Good god I love this song.

Cage the Elephant: Ain't No Rest for the Wicked.
From: Borderlands 1 (theme song)

[ Show youtube player ]

The Heavy: Short Change Hero
From: Borderlands 2 (theme song)

[ Show youtube player ]

Kongos: Come With Me Now
From: Borderlands the pre-sequel

[ Show youtube player ]

Mainframe (English)
From: Borderlands the pre-sequel Claptastic Voyage DLC
Health advisory warning: this song is a brain tumor

The Japanese version is the best though:

And finally...

The Heavy: Put it on the Line
From: Borderlands 3 (theme song)

It Began in Afrika - Chemical Brothers (the) (2001) always wondered what them brothers thought "it" was that had supposedly begun in Africa. Could it be modern humans ? Or were they cynical as to evoke AIDS initial infection site ?

Awight awigh awight. Let's take a trip to my childhood. My childhood in the early 90's in the Netherlands consisted of : happy hardcore. You know the music - the same beat pattern in every... song?, voices pitched up way high, happy happy happy. Music designed to make your parents hate you. I listened to that crap until I ran into the Smashing Pumpkins and on the spot started to create my own musical identity rather than just listening to what was popular at school.

There are two... songs? from that era that stuck with me and I still like today.

#1: Party Animals - Aquarius

#2: Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Hardcore feelings

Took me so long to put my mind to it, not a single jazz or blues CD in my collection until the early 2000's, what a jerk I was (and still is, in some aspects ). I remember at school this guy telling me bluntly the reason I was not a hip kid was because I never mentioned listening to Midnight Oil. Anyway, does anyone remember this Belgian entertainer ? Confetti's - The Sound Of C (1988)
