problem with flicker

hi. im using winuae 2.50 on a hp dv9500 laptop. all my other pcs work fine with amiga emulation. even my acer 270 travelmate and thats ancient.

my hp however has this one annoying prob. when a game scrolls the screen occassionally flickers black. using null filter seems to get rid of it but i hate the blurryness of these filtered effects. plus they put stain on my cpu.
ive tried messing with vsync and running it in direct x and direct draw but nothing works. Please help.

Tony.

Does that happen with all games/demos or is the effect worse with some in particular?

Do you mean whole frame is black or part of frame is black and part contains correct graphics?

If you need to use DirectDraw, try changing DirectDraw memory buffer option, systemram may disable the blurry filtering.

The whole frame goes black for a split second when scrolling. Dosent get in the way of playing but it is noticably annoying. Where do I find the memory buffer option and system ram?
On another note. I'm running it on a HP Pavillion 9550. These laptops are the amongst the ones with the defective Nvidia GPUs. The whole system shuts down when it overheats. This might account for the glitches if no one else is reporting the problem.

To Mark.. happens in all games.

The DirectDraw memory option is in the Miscellaneous settings page, the one below Graphics API.

You could also try changing buffering from non/double/triple and see if that makes a difference. Finally you could try updating your graphics driver. If there isn't a later version on the HP site, there might be at http://www.latptopvideo2go.com/.
