'Filtre'?
Anyway. Was about to post questions about what fascination these machines could hold, but it's not really productive. Nice to see a new product, hope fans will have lots of fun on it, I prefer an Amiga, that's how it's going to be, hey ho. I do wish however that the OS guys would also care for 680x0, even if I don't personally use/need something somehow nicer for myself, I know others would love it. |

WTF over 1000 Euros? From the spec / look I thought it would be about 400 especially as one of the selling points was stickers.

The sticker is 'official' though which seems to be the most important thing about it I'm not a NG hater BTW, I just think it's sad how out-of-touch and generally clueless the people running the show appear to be. |

I have to admit, that despite me starting this thread, the whole "repackage a SAM 460" and sell it as an A1 500 does feel like someone cashing in on the hard work of the X1000 crowd.

Edit: I think ACube would have gotten a better response if they had actually created a retro A500 case design to put the SAM460 into, more like what CUSA did with the C64x case, instead of the tower case they chose. |

ACube sells 460ex also in 'mini 1400' case. Looks bit better.

I think that things like this prove that PPC is the wrong platform for the future of the Amiga. ARM boards costing a fraction of the price of even the cheapest SAM mobo now offer equal or better performance and frankly I don't see the situation getting any better. Unless the MorphOS or AOS4 people get busy on an ARM port, I've no doubt that AROS on ARM will be "real" nextgen Amiga platform.

MorphOS may end up on x86.

unless a new 'Amiga' can absolutely destroy a PS3, XBox 360, PC, or MAC, and be of comparable price, then I absolutely do NOT see the point in this.
Sure, I love the fact that so many people want the Amiga name to live on, and thats laudable, but the fact is, when the original Amiga 1000 was released, it was technically superior to everything in the world virtually, what hope has this new machine of having or holding that title? Its not even the most powerful machine this week! |

Amiga is a thing of the past for the genuine fans to love and appreciate but making it more powerful with new technology is moving far away from what we remember and seems pointless (in my opinion) |

Why doesn't someone re-create the older hardware which can be used in the original Commodore cases i.e. a motherboard replacement - make it cheaper to produce by enabling users to put in their original Kickstart/Custom chips/accelerators with modern improvements. I'm talking of stuff like the Phoenix 1000 etc. Jens must make more sales of his 'classic' hardware than any PPC based OS4x system. Sigh. |

I do like the Minimig, although at the point I bought it, it could only run (some) ADFs, no Fastmem/harddisks, no FFS etc. It must in the end be a standalone development platform to replace the Amiga proper. (I must say I regret selling it now that it has become better. I definitely would consider buying it again, especially if it used a firmware upgradable 680x0 core.) Didn't mean to tweak the original post in another direction, just wanted to chime in. There's no reason to not wish that AmigaOne reaches maximum audience, even if I personally think it's the original platform we should gather round and nurture and develop. |
