Brainkiller and others

I´ve read lemmi´s posting about "brainkiller" ( -> interview with Titan, thread in req. old rare games)

My opinion: There must have been an unreleased buggy but FULL version of the game.

Quotation (interview in "Amiga Future 18", interviewer: Thomas Steiding; interviewed person: Michael Garlich, Geschaeftsfuehrer of "Titan" (not exactly comparable with a "chairman" but nearly the same, some juridical differnences but comparable authority, let´s call it the head of a "German ltd." (which is called GmbH and is slightly different to a ltd. btw. ... eehr...back to topic )

"Brainkiller" ist gestrichen. Dieses extern gecodete Spiel war in seiner "Endversion" so buggy, dass wir das nicht veröffentlichen konnten.

own translation:

"Brainkiller" has been cancelled. The "final version" of this game coded by external persons has been so buggy that we didn´t dare to publish it (I think that "final version" is written with quotation marks because Mr. Garlich didn´t really dare to call it a "final version" related to usual quality standards of his company).

That means to me:

Brainkiller has been buggy but finished ("finished" = Coder´s opinion).

Btw:

In the magazin "Amiga Future" (I own some issues from 1997 to 2000) are some previews of games that I´ve never seen as a full version or that I heard of being published (I guess that this sentence is a grammatical mess but please forgive me - my last English lessons were in 1994). Some aren´t in HOL ( e.g. "Fratzengeballer", demo uploaded to the zone recently)

If you are interested in I will name the previews and scan some screenshots.

Thanks joe.

I've already tried to email one of the developers of Brain Killer but there's no response yet.

Yes please - the previews from Amiga Future would be welcome. I've added FratzenGeballer (http://hol.abime.net/2039) to the HOL.

I got to your board through Google, looking for information about those
happy days. For instance about the game, which I and my colleagues were
creating. I am one of the authors of games Brain Dead and Brain Killer
(Brain Dead turned into Brain Killer due to legal reasons). Actually the
game was never finished. In my opinion the last version was written and
tested in about 95%. Why hadn't we finished it? There are many reasons:
fatigue, everybody's personal affairs (studies, work, and even military
service of the coder) and finally lack of perspectives. The nail in the
coffin was Titan Software's demand. They wanted radical changes in the
code (adding the third dimension). It would actually mean starting from
scratch, including the graphics and the levels' architecture. I regret
most that we didn't publish the game ourselves -- for free, for the
whole Amiga community -- at least the last, almost ready, playable, version.
Unfortunatelly we were loosing touch with Marcin (the coder), who was
getting more and more busy. Finally Marcin sold his Amiga together with
the disk, which contained the source code (AFAIK there was no copy).
So did I, but I kept my graphics, which I still have.

@ Fatman:

Welcome to EAB

"Finally Marcin sold his Amiga together with

Ohhhh noooooooooooooo. Not again. Another Amiga software nightmare.

Do you still have this 95%-version?
Perhaps that´s something for AGTW!

Just have a look:

See you later!

Unfortunatelly not -- I have only most of the graphics, maybe a part of the source code and one of the last demo versions (unfounatelly with a serious bug -- the weapon graphics don't appear). I'll try to contact with Marcin -- perhaps he has the almost ready version on a CD.

Start praying again. Today i've emailed Jacek Rudowski and Fatman if they have any contact with the coder. I've found their profiles on polish community portal nasza-klasa.pl
