aca1231 63+1mb on ks3.0

received this card today from vromm6sri

installed card, picked up the 1st 1mb fast ram, ran acatune as suggested in documentation, pickup the rest of the installed ram.

as read in other thread, inserted the following lines into the startup-sequence after ;lite3.1

c:acatune
c:acatune -maprom devs:ks31.rom >NIL:
c:acatune -cash on -burst on >NIL:
c:acatune -resetpcmcia >NIL

after rebooting, cf (dh0 failed to initialize

after commenting the lines out, wbench boots up and i can run acatune from cli, picking up all available ram.

even booting from df0: and running c:acatune from cli, picks up all available ram.

copied acatune to wbstartup to see if that would work, answer was no

after delving into devs/kickstarts, i noticed all the kickstart files are either pat or rtb.

any help would be grateful

thx in advance

ACA tune arguments are usually on one line e.g.
C:ACATune -maprom DEVS:ks31.rom -cache on -burst on >NIL

I'll double check my s-s when I get home but I'm only using maprom for my physical 3.1 Roms. Also ACATune should ideally be the first line in s-s.

As Coltch says you should have one line with your ACATune declaration, I recommend get the card working before trying advanced ACATune options so just start with:

c:acatune -maprom * >NIL:

If you want to use maprom to load in a Kickstart Rom Image you need to have the image of the Rom in the place you are calling it, i.e if you use:

c:acatune -maprom devs:ks31.rom >NIL:

You must have the Kickstart image with the exact same name in your Devs drawer.

Have a look at the readme file for the full usage instructions:

Which version of AmigaOS are you trying to run/running?, if it's 3.0 or 3.1 just use the -maprom * argument to load ks3.0 into the 1mb area of the aca. If you are trying to run 3.5+ you need to do as Steve says and have acatune point towards the correct ks rom.

As I use my ACA1231 with a physical 3.1 I only use the -maprom * option in my s-s for 3.9 (burst and cache on).

I thought the rtb files were part of WHDLoad but I could be wrong

I agree, start with the above line as the first line in your SS and take it from there.

But I would like to add that acatune does not work with having many options on the same line (think it is a bug in acatune). On my machine, if I use -cache and -burst together with -maprom, only the -maprom option is executed, the others are ignored, which is why I have -maprom on the first line and the remaining options on a second line.

c:acatune -maprom * >NIL: worked folks, ty kindly for the assist <---- spoke too soon

ok specs : cbw lite (3.1), real 3.0 roms installed, 4gb cf card (3 partitions), gotek emulator and the aca card of course lol

ok after changing line in s-s, i rebooted, hey presto, wb is not validated.

loaded the wb3.1 install adf via gotek, picked the drive up and displayed all directories, took cf card out and tried it in winuae, same, showed all directories.

rebooted a1200 without the adf image, and what do you know ----> wb is not validated .....

id pull my hair out if i had enough to spare, any advice welcomed

thanks in advance
