WHDLoad Pack Downloader troubles

Hi,

I wonder why the old system of WHDLoad Packs and Updates has been changed.
Since I do not have the old files I already downloaded on my HDD anymore (at least not packed the way the quirky downloader wants them), I would be forced to download everything again and at an inacceptable slow speed.

So I am stuck with v2.6 or is there any other way to get just the files I need?

I wrote in the post why I removed the old packs: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=68704

Yes, you are forced to download the whole thing again, but do it now before new years eve as I've temporarily upped the anonymous FTP account from 50kb/sec to 500kb/sec =)

Or you could just download the games you want to update manually. Or even use a ROM manager such as ClrMAMEPro

I just use Retroplay's Dat files and update at the beginning over every month, it removes older versions and tells you what new versions you need to download!

OK, I will try to do it this year, otherwise I will try the ROM manager.

They are all here on the FTP. Use a FTP client such as filezilla

Well, that changes a lot. I haven't found the WHDLoad files on the server and always thought that the Pack Downloader is the only possibility to get access to them. Never looked up the Retroplay folder...
This is even better than the old update system; I can just add those files that I need manually.

I need to know how this works, not really dealt with DAT files and automatically sorting them.
