That's pretty neat, but it's no substitute for web access. For example, this is how I get files onto my FPGA Arcade:

1) Switch off the FPGA Arcade; 2) Eject the SD card and put it in my Mac; 3) Launch FS-UAE and copy the file to FPGA Arcade's hardfile; 4) Eject the SD card and put it in the FPGA Arcade; 5) Boot up the FPGA Arcade.

On my A4000, however: 1) Launch AWeb; 2) Download the file. Even with the slow download speeds, it's a lot less hassle.

I wish I'd suggested this earlier, but another option would be to provide an A1200-compatible clockport (or two) so you could use Rapid Road or Subway on the A500.

Unless I'm missing your point, it just needs to support Posiedon. The drivers are already there.

I have no USB device for my Amigas so I don't know but I was under the impression that you can't expect just any USB device to work with Poseidon but need some luck for your hardware to work. May be I'm wrong but the thread linked above shows that there is some concern about what will work and what not.

i have deneb and it always worked very well. at the beginning there was a dma problem due to buggy zorro3 bus, but it has been solved and since then it was very dependable also in dma mode. imho you could throw almost any useb device at it, poseidon had a class for and it worked. admittedly for me it was mostly mouse and mass storage, as probably for most other users, but there was no problems. i even used to boot from an usb stick for a while.

the problems usually been discussed on forums have been related to os4 hardware and its own stack, that were problematic afair.

btw poseidon is open and maintained on aros. it isnt currently enabled for 68k though as it would have to be worked on and tested with the hardware. the aros poseidon classes are unfortunatelly incompatible to existing 68k poseidon classes binaries, because chris (the original coder) extended some structure with some field while opening and porting, or something like that, i dont remember.

There are several Ethernet device classes in Poseidon, so yes.
I have some stability problems with an Asixeth-based device, but others have such a device working fine with Poseidon.

The old AmigaOS 3.x 68k Poseidon uses an optional MorphOS input.device for adding mouse and keyboard events before booting using a MOS style device CMD function of the input.device. AROS uses an AmigaOS 4.x style input.device CMD function to add input events which is incompatible. Of course adding an AROS compatible input.device to AmigaOS 3.x for porting the AROS Poseidon stack should not be a problem but then it would be incompatible with the old AmigaOS 3.x Poseidon.

right, but im not sure if the morphos input.device wasnt in there primarly for the mousewheel. either way it a low level subsystem, i have not tried to get genuine version to run under aros, at least not lately, but could be an idea. however if there is a dedicated version being maintained i would prefer using this one.

btw, when using scalos on aros you can simply exchange aros binaries against the genuine 68k ones with exactly the same result. i have done it to confirm the problems which have occured the same ones.
