Melody 1200 Pro: anyone who can hack the driver??
Hi,
after quite some time I was eventually able to get hold of a Melody 1200 Pro. It is a know-good / known as working unit. I have a Phoenix board and would like to use the Melody with the iComp A500-Clockport - adapter for the 68k-Socket. Unfortunately the Melody is not recognized at the port that is meant to have the original A1200 CP-address. The driver has this address hard-coded. A modified driver exists that allows the use on a ZIV-Clockports. Unfortunately this port in the A500CP does not recognize the Melody either. I assume an issue with e.g. voltages or power. I have a third option, as I have a VarIO with a clockport. From that clockport I have the base address and the CP-offset. Anyone out here who could mod the driver to accept a different CP-address? I have available the original driver plus the modded driver available. I tried to look with a hex editor for the usual address in the file but to no avail. That would be the last thing I need to finish my 13-years-in-the-making-system . Cheers, McT |

Diff'ing the two drivers yields too many differences to find out how the clockport address is coded in the driver?

Binary - don't have others.
If anyone is interested, I can upload both versions. The aminet download doesn't work anymore. Thanks, McT |

You can put them zipped in the zone. Maybe I can help a little bit.

The result .
I got some differences but couldn't spot the literal cp-addresses. Thanks, McT |

Hi,
the driver is uploaded in the zone: MelodyPro1200_Driver_Orig_and_Mod.zip. It contains the minimum installation of the original driver and a full package of the original driver with e.g. an adf. Additionally, the modded files of the driver for use with a micronic ZIV board and the respective different clockport address is included. Thanks!! By the way: anyone able to reproduce this behavior? I.e. anyone have a Melody 1200 at hand and an A500 Clockport? Cheers, McT |

Only differences between the original and Z_IV versions appear to be in the "melodyresource.library" files.
Can you be more specific as to where you would like the Melody to appear in Memory? As far as I understand it, you would like to connect it to the second clockport on your iComp board? Cheers, Red |

Melody 1200 Pro: anyone who can hack the driver??
Hi,
I would like to connect it to a VarIO board. The A500 CP has two CPs with two addresses. The addresses are the one for the original A1200 and the one for the ZIV-Board. That said should the original driver work with one of the CPs on the A500 CP-board. The modded driver should work on the other cp. Since in my system the Melody doesn't work on either of them I would like to attach it to the CP of a VarIO board. So ideally I would have an SPatch to hack in a different address. For the VarIO, I have the base address and the clockport-offset. Again: if someone has an idea on why the Melody doesn't work on the A500cp I'd be happy as well . Thanks, McT Last edited by McTrinsic; 26 April 2016 at 18:07. |

Aaaahhhh... Now I get it .
I'll dig out the address later this evening. Issue here is: it may be relative to the Zorro-Card the CP is on. Anyways I'll get you the present address later. Thanks!!! McT |

Melody 1200 Pro: anyone who can hack the driver??
Hi,
this one got me a bit puzzled. The adress of the clockport.... The VarIO is the card that has the clockport. The VarIO itself has a base adress of $EA0000. The offset of the clockport is $c00 - $cffe . Does that answer the question? Or where do i get the Clockport-Adress? Thanks, McT Last edited by McTrinsic; 09 May 2016 at 07:14. |
