Hmm, how will this affect the output to TV, i'm assuming that you would need a TV capable of diplaying both modes ? edit:... I'll be the guinea pig and try it on my NTSC CD32. I'll post the results later tonight Last edited by kipper2k; 19 May 2009 at 16:54. |

@k2k It will affect the CD32's output in the same manner that an A1200's output is affected regarding RF & composite (& CD32 S-Video). although the frame frequency will be 50Hz in PAL mode. The Colour encoder in side the CD32 & A1200 will now output 50Hz but with NTSC colour information. A1200 RGB Video port of course does not have any colour encoding applied to it as it is the pure R-G-B output signals. Most PAL TV's from Europe & Australia are more than happy to run in NTSC colour mode as well as 60 Hz Frame rate. However US & Japanese domestic models tend to ignore PAL & 50Hz by & large.. TC edit - you know when your TV is in NTSC colour mode (irrespective of frame) because apart from the generally poor colour balance you also get a "Tint" adjustment that PAL does not have or require. |

I was looking at my CD32 at lunch and noticed that something just didnt look right... Pin 41 and 42 when measured to each other is zero ohms. i checked the A1200 that i lifted pin 41 on and... i have lifted pin 42 instead!!. Pin 42 is identified as Gnd2 and pin41 must be internally connected to it because it does work in pal mode now even though pin 41 is still connected to the pad (check my image and count the pins
here is a pic of Alice's pinout that i found somewhere while trolling the net.. i am now assuming that because i lifted Gnd2 then that also effectively removes pin 41 from ground. It doesnt appear to be affecting anything else but i'll keep an eye on it... OK, you can say it... Dumb cluck!! Last edited by kipper2k; 19 May 2009 at 20:32. |

@Kipper2k
I just had a look at your piccy posted above & counted 9 pins in (left to right), according to your piccy you did unsolder the NTSC pin Best Regards TC |

I lifted pin 41 on my NTSC CD32 and it indeed boots up in PAL mode. If i do the early startup by pressing both mouse buttons the default mode is PAL. As mentioned the colour display is messed up, if i feed it through my multi region projector it works fine |

Just to help keep this post on-topic & since it's now being discussed in the CD32 NTSC/PAL thread:
