Back to the A1200

Hiya guys, i need some help with getting my A1200 up and running again. Its been too long since its been out of action for 6 years after the HD died. Ive lost interest in PC games and i just keep thinking about playing the Amiga ones!.. ive felt that way for about 2 years now.. although i "was" an Amiga user for 10 years.. lol.

My A1200 is workbench 3.0 and is fitted with a Blizzard 030 50hmz ( bloody forward slash key is giving me some idiot search bar on the PC?? ) 16 meg fast ram & CD drive.

Now i wish to get another HD for it ( obviously ), although i know beyond a certain capacity the A1200 wont see the drive, so what size drive should i get, and if it does go beyond what it will see, what software hacks are available so that it will?

I wish to run WHDLoad to run all those classic games, so what else will i need?.. i know the CD drive needed to be mounted or something from memory ( its been a long time ).

Anyway i think i will leave the post at that, because its really starting to frustrate me.. the arrow keys on my keyboard are no longer working either, although if i write something in Word or in google they work?.. something to do with this site?.

So in a nutshell.. what exactly do i need to get my Amiga back to its glory days. Im dying to get back to it.

( BTW. what size screws does the A1200 take in its case?.. its still in great condition, but i remember i took all the screws out once for some stupid reason years ago.. yeah i know, it was a dickhead thing to do )

You can use a 2.5" laptop drive no more than 4gb unless you use software hacks to fit bigger drives, the hacks look like a hell of a lot of hastle. The best way would be upgrading to OS 3.9, this has a new file system on it that will let you fit a big 2.5" drive. Mines currently 20gb. You may have to upgrade your kikstart roms though to use OS 3.9.

I have a 6GB drive in my A1200 and just used the SFS replacement filesystem - which wasn't a hassle at all. I just followed the instructions to set up the drive and partition it then off I went, got three 2Gb partitions, one for the OS, one for apps, one for demos and games
