Amiga type icons on windows?
I dont know if this is the correct part of the forum to ask but does anybody know if sets of amiga style icons exsist for windows?
im running XP and have got hold of a program that tweaks loads of hidden stuff... one of the most cool tweaks allows cd-rom drives to appear on the desktop like the amiga does when a cd is inserted and when removed the icon will vanish... so im thinking about customizing as much as possible to make it look like os 3.1/3.9! wow, thats a cool idea!
I don't know much about XP, but MacOSX has support for these things called "themes" which change the look of icons, menu bars, windows- everything! XP should have something similar, or a shareware hack which lets you use em. try doing a search for WinXP themes |

use a GXF package on the Amiga to save icon images as windowz bitmaps, then load into icon /GFX prog on PC and save. If you can produce an icon dll then all of them will be in one file.
On my old 98 setup I had it completely Amigafied for the icons and colours of the windows. |

If any of you guys create any icon sets for the PC, be sure and upload them to the Zone.

that weblink i posted has amiga icon sets for the pc! they do work but its tedious changing them all around!
what is needed is to be able to change the whole bloomin lot into amiga icons with a few mouse clicks! *i downloaded a small file that claims to make Newicons work on the pc! if it does indeed work then that would be cool |

You mean different looks on the icons when clicked and not too? If so I'm afraid that's not possible in windows. Try Linux. I know Gnome and KDE offer animations for when you hover the mouse over the icon and when you press the button.

no m8! sorry i mean actually swapping the icon over for another one... just by getting rid of the defualt icon that was giving to a program or file by windows and replacing it with your own self made one! so if i wanted everything to appear as if its on the amiga i would change the all the default icons to amiga lookalikes!

Yes actually they don't work, in the attached link there are numerous icon packages, in any case you should also find them on Aminet, I don't know if among all these there are "free" icons

Thanks for the suggestions. I would have no idea how to convert linux icons.
iirc Windows ico are quite simple to convert. Clover Icons are ok but it's very small. I think I remember a full set of recreated 1.3 icons for windows but can't find them anywhere. Actually Clover Icons is good Last edited by Retro1234; 10 March 2023 at 13:39. |
