Arrow REQ: Rody & Mastico (FRENCH)

Hi,

I'm searching for this FRENCH game by Lankhor. I know for sure that it was released because there's an (inutilizable) version on www.lankhor.net (unofficial site).
Believe me, this disk won't work on a real Amiga either because the BAM is destroyed!

Now I'm counting on you to get hold of this rarity eventually.

Nah. That's another problem. Due to the extent of the damage, essential files get DESTROYED if you use DiskSalv.

Ah, but you always use a really good data copier first, then run DiskSalv on the backup just in case this happens! Remember you can control how DiskSalv recovers files to some extent

EDIT: andreas, since you live in Germany, did you cat CeBit 2002? I hear it's a pretty big trade show and I caught some of it on TechTV here in the states.

About the CeBIT thing: check your PM. I don't want to get too much off-track here. I know that this happened in the past, and all of a sudden, with everybody being engaged in discussion, the user that requested a game had shouted "STOP IT, I want my game!"
(Sort of, at least )

Anyway...
You're right that it's wise to copy the working stuff and THEN use DiskSalv. But what if the disk is an AmigaDOS disk but isn't readable, eh?
Besides: Good news! :bounce
I managed to recover the biggest part of the disk, well it wasn't easy! Anyway, the result of my "work" is in the zone.

to everybody: Case NOT closed yet.

I still prefer an error-free version to one fixed by me "in order to have a version that works at all". Otherwise we're going to spread another half-working version in TOSEC.

I agree, I tend to run off in tangents in so many threads, I can't seem to help it as my brain works that way :laugh

As for the recovery, I agree you'd like to have an original, perhaps even an unmodified original to repair said disk with, if possible.

As to your question about the bad tracks and or data, one thing that the programmer of the Maverick and I were discussing years ago was this very thing. When we discussed about corrupted data and such on disks it was decided that the data copier would have this kind of thing built-in and would in most circumstances recover and correct the check-sum on the destination disk. Of course nothing is full-proof but it does a very good job, IMHO

Hooooo

Well, you may hack around now if you like. The broken version is in the zone. If I happen to catch anybody in the act to "offer" this version to TOSEC, there might happen some unexpected things
