Take my word for it - yes you can. I gave the button mapping function a test on some single button platformers and racing games (so that jump/accelerate was R and duck/brake was L). You can even map UP/DOWN to a button that isn't used (say, blue/second fire) in order to make sure you can't accidentally hit those functions when you're using the pad.

Perfect. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Good Zipstiks are getting more expensive but there are millions of PS2 pads out there.

Now it's the long wait till pay day....

I'm keen on getting something like this for my CD32. PSX/PS2 controllers are readily available and have all the buttons in the right places.

I don't suppose anyone else has found code/schematics to make some of these up? If kipper2k is reading would it be possible to release the code or does that belong to Paul Willingham?

Otherwise I guess the specs for the CD32 controller and PSX controller are readily available so I could look at reinventing the wheel sometime in the future.

EDIT: looks like this circuit will do the trick: http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/appe_v32 would still be nice to have all the features of the improved one though

I ended up getting one of these:

Then I just got a PS2 pad to use, worked a treat on my CD32 and Amiga.

They work great, except for the odd niggle where they'd simply cease to work but Paul is happy to replace it no problem. The last time one died on me I got to keep it and open her up , the replacement came non-glued so I can figure out exactly what f'ked up lol - Have not got round to fixing it yet.

As for compatiability, it works great on the cd32 games and whdload games via the tf328, i had problems only with amigajay's games. Resetting and Moonstone cd32 conversion.

I recommend them as a ps1/ps2 pad is essentially a VERY good controller and the anolouge is awesome.

I also bought a PS1 mouse and psOne controller for 5 Pounds recently (so cheap!) and the mouse worked really well on lemmings etc.

Code is still private to Paul, i havent heard from him for a wwhile, if i can i will do more, i have about 7 chips left.

Just to keep all the info together, there is an open source project for this over at a1k.org.

One day when I get some time I was thinking of starting a wiki to index all the open source hardware projects that the Amiga community have
