Gsync & Freesync support?

I have a 144hz gysnc monitor that can sync to very low (I think 30) frequencies.

Unfortunately in WinUAE the only refresh rates given to me are 60hz ntsc, 100hz pal, 120hz ntsc and 144hz.

I am actually having difficulty running Winuea in fullscreen modes. Different things happen depending on what options I choose like very low framerate, black screen, frozen screen.

I also had my Logitech g910 keyboard totally stop working although it probably is unrelated with this.

Does anyone else use WinUAE with Gsync on like me?

G-sync/freesync only works in "variable sync" mode (Display panel. Do not select any vsync modes!), select any >60Hz refresh rate, this becomes upper max for variable sync range.

Does this work to give perfect scrolling at 50 Hz? I am tempted to buy a new gfx card AND monitor to finally have a perfect smooth WinUAE 50 Hz display.

Nice, just got a FreeSync monitor, waiting for the RX5xx series then I'll try some 50Hz goodness!

Thanks Toni!

Got finally a new PC and a Freesync monitor. It works indeed perfectly smooth set to 75Hz (the limit of my monitor). FS-UAE too, and a lot of other emulators.

The "variable sync" mode in WinUAE doesn't work for me though, it's jerky. Completely disabled sync is fine. Probaby hardware/software depended what works better.

Hi
I have a freesync videocard and monitor too. But enabling or disabling adaptive vsync still gives stuttering scrolling. It doesn’t work. How can I troubleshoot this?

Freesync is enabled in the monitor OSD settings and the driver settings? Set to the highest refresh rate? Make sure the standard Vsync is disabled too (drivers).

Thanks for your reply.
Yes freesync is working fine in my system on other emulators and games. After further experiments I think it’s related to audio drivers selection in the "sound" settings of WINUAE. When I select Direct Audio with sound buffer to ‘min’ the game is running smoothly, but sadly only for a few seconds and then it starts to stutter again . We are talking about consistent micro-stutter as if the game is running on slightly wrong refresh rate. When I select a lower audio herz (22khz instead of 44khz ) then the game runs fine without stuttering for a little longer (like 8 seconds ) before stuttering again. With the WASAPI driver selected in WINUAE, i got micro-stutter immediately and the game never runs smooth.
So I think freesync itself is enabled, but the audio drivers are causing it to stutter despite running in the correct refresh rate... Any help is appreciated.

Include logs from both configurations (dsound and wasapi), thanks.

Load your config, tick logging option in paths panel before starting emulation, then load some statefile that very quickly causes the problem (faster than booting normally), wait few seconds, enter GUI, click paths panel save all button, attach or email the file.

Oops, you also need to tick misc panel "create winuaelog.txt log". (I have never remembered to make this automatic in debug mode..)

Does same happen if you use smaller buffer size? Your config has quite large buffer sizes that should cause far too high sound latency.

Full/stable variable refresh mode compatibility probably requires D3D11 (DXGI) render. Someday..
