Amiga 3.1wb A1200 HDD mounting under winuae

I have a working 2.5" Amiga drive that boots to wb for my a1200.

I've added it to a usb connector and win7 sees it in dev manager.
Winuae sees a usb 1tb drive I have but refuses to see the amiga formatted.

I'm about ready to give up. I just need to copy some files to the a1200 drive (nic driver etc)

Any ideas?

When you connect the Amiga drive to the PC do you get a message, "This drive needs formatting"?

"Refuses to see" is not very useful description. Details! Config? Attach winuaebootlog.txt after clicking "add harddrive".

Thanks. I will try to find the log files you mentioned. I am novice.

Also I will be trying another HDD cradle although I doubt it matters.

When I select to add a HDD, I see all of my systems HDD's (several sata drives, my c: ssd drive, and my external 1TB drive) I do not see the 130meg amiga hdd connected to usb, but windows 7 devmanager sees it and disk manager wants to initialize it.

GUI Paths panel shows log path.

Does Windows disk management detect correct disk size? Incorrect size (usually zero) is one common side-effect of hardware incompatibility when using very old and very small drives with USB adapters.

I think this is problem

This seems to be the most common hardware incompatibility with USB adapters. Drive gets detected but size is wrong and also all read and write commands fail.

For some reason USB adapters don't want to work with ancient drives.

Thanks for solving the mystery.

Next I tried adding it to an old ide mb system with a converter and ended up frying the drive. It doesn't spin up now at all.
