The Eire Raising Adventures of Seamus O'Mally

Quite a funny game! An old F1 Licenseware Point & Click Adventure

Am trying to write a solution but am stuck...

http://aminet.net/package/game/role/eraosom

Have The Banana, Bus Ticket, Twig, Ear Defenders and Wig.

The author writes the following clues but I can't find out how to get the roses without blowing up or something to feed the ducks with/how to get the bus driver to go to the airport

Authors clues:
1. Roses are red violets are blue, if you don't get it from that then sod you
2. Seamus loves to gamble! (coin)
3. Have you noticed how builders seem to have the same pack lunch, every day
4. Do NOT feed the ducks!
5. If your stick's too short - then do your own extension
6. Leprechauns have a very limited diet and prefer to eat from the table
7. If you don't look here then you should bin this game (bin for newspaper)
8. Try a hearing aid (deaf woman)
9. Ever tried Origami (fold paper for hearing aid)
10. Say it with flowers...

Many thanks!

Great, just finished Aqua and was ready to start with Storia Ancestrale, but I will start Seamus first, see how far I can progress.

I am a bit worried about these F1 games, though, I had Geo Quest infecting and ruining my FS-UAE Workbench and had to reinstall everything from scratch. Is there a nice, virus-free version available for download?

not sure, that version was ok to be released by the author so I am guessing it's fine.

Geo Quest was uploaded with a virus to Aminet by the author himself, so I am a little bit worried.

Is there a HD installer in this one? Readme mentions an installer on disk 1, but nothing there.

I've never even heard of this game.

You could probably just copy to hard drive and make relevant assigns.

Have never done this procedure before, but it's never too late to learn.
Is there an online guide for the process?

Simply copy the disk(s) to a folder on your HD.
Then run the game from HD.
If it works, all fine

If you get messages about inserting a disk, assign the HD folder you have copied the files inside to the exact same name of the floppy name you copied the files from.

Looks complicated, I was hoping for a more idiot's step-by-step guide ( ), but I will try it out.
Since it is a 4-disk game, should 4 separate assigns be made, one for each floppy?

It's really easy to do indeed as soon as you get used with the command(s)' syntax.

If at the end you don't manage to do it, let me know and I will check this evening when I return home.

Lick the bus ticket, that makes it sticky. Use the sticky ticket to attach the banana to the twig. Then use your extended stick to prod the bus driver. He will tell you he's tired of hearing passengers all day, so give him the ear defenders. He will then agree to take you to the airport where there are lots of blue flowers. Take the blue flowers and swap them with the roses Indiana Jones temple of doom style.

I'm 98% of 27% sure this will work.
You're welcome.

Thanks malko !

I rescued 4 demos which previously didn't work

They all needed a simple assign

This was something new for me !

Copy all files from all disks to one directory with some name (e.g. name of game). Then run it. If it's working then it's finished. If there is "please insert..." message then make script with assigns to every disk, e.g.

Assign disk_1_name: Partition:directory/game_directory
Assign disk_2_name: Partition:directory/game_directory
etc (it depends of number of disks)

where:
disk_?_name is name of disk with game, it's shown when You put this disk to floppy drive under Workbench.
Partition:directory/ it's path to where is game_directory, which is just this directory you copy all game files.

At the end of script just type main file (executable) name. Save it. Then add "project" type icon to this script and as default tool write IconX.

----

When You are using AmigaOS3.x (or maybe even AmigaOS2.x) you can make it even simpler. Just use formula as above, but use assigns this way:

Assign disk_1_name: ""
Assign disk_2_name: ""
(etc)
main_file_name

Using "" use current directory where is script which You run. This way have one big plus - You can copy directory with game wherever you want and game should still work. In first example You can run game only from directory which You write in script (exact Partition:directory/game_directory path).
