hehehe yeah, back in the day I played this forever with a huge score.. The game levels reset sooner or later

I had to get a feel for it, and my 3mill score was due to some good luck on the very first level. I got one of those pink gem things that turns all aliens to money I managed a plasma, autofire unit, extra bullets and speed..

This made it easy to kill the money grabber whenever it appeared, so was just a case of keeping armour topped up

Anyone got an alternative (better) jingle to the in-game one?

That rubbish tune's driving me bonkers!

I don't want another broken 1200 to dispose of!

Cheers

Anyways, here's me enormous score...

ya, the in-game SFX are much better

alright here's some tips to spice things up a bit

- plasma and auto-fire is really the weapon of choice.. anything more is overkill.
- If you shoot all but one enemy, and let the 'Hurry Up' ship go past 5-7 times a Money Ship appears... shoot it and it usually drops 1000+ money..
- If you shoot that bastard green ship that occasionally appears trying to rape you with a big lazer, he drops a purple diamond.. 1000 money. (takes a lot of hits)
- If you have the top rank of Admiral and go up yet 'another rank' you get 1,000,000 points..

have fun..

I haven't played for quite a long time (4-5 years) and I made a score of 2,028,300. But I replaced my Hiscore file to have a clear highscore table. My all time record in Galaga is almost 66,752,585 (normal mode).

My question is: do we honour all time scores or recent scores? (I can provide a screenshot and file of my all time Galaga records)

66 million is a hell of a score, but I only count scores that are achieved while the round is taking place (as all the scores are so far), sorry. So your 2 million one will have to do for now.

Of course, all you have to do is score 66 million again and your problems are solved

EDIT: Just noticed in your screenshot you have 0 credits left... did you use up your credits while you were playing? Because that's against the rules.

So mihcael scores should not be counted because they were taken a year ago

I haven't used credits. I never use. In Galaga using credits is useless because you lose all the weapons and stuff. But here is the explanation of this. I play on Amiga and after reaching the score I transfer the whole game or highscore file on WinUAE to make a screenshot (I don't know how to make a screenshot from many games on Amiga). Each time you load up the game and you do not start it, number of credits which is shown is "0". When you play and quit at least once, it will give you "2". All screenshots above were taken after the play, without quiting the game. I have to quit (and save scores) because shots were taken on the other computer under emulation. I hope it clarifies situation.

Okay thanks for your explanation, sorry for doubting you

That's a good idea actually...
