Directory Opus 4 Tutorials

Hi guys,

I have started doing some Directory Opus 4 tutorials, here is the first video that concentrates on installing and a quick look at the interface.

I might get the next video done today, which will cover the basics of configuration

Part 1

Part 2

I welcome all feedback

ps.. I don't edit my videos.. It's posted exactly as I made it. I'll possibly start learning how to edit, and add music at a later date

Nice to see a series on this. Thank you. Half way through and I can say your audio levels are very low, so maybe push the gain at recording time.

Like the way you lay out your desktop with the small CLI at the bottom of the screen.

Looking forward to the rest. Definitely would love to see some advanced videos later on. AREXX stuff and the like.

Haven’t seen the video yet but such tutorials on one of the most important and iconic amiga tools that is able to do almost anything are always more than welcome. Fantastic idea and can’t wait to see and learn on the more advanced stuff such as button creations, arexx, using external tools like xad, xfd and xpk for extracting, adding file types etc, adf, dms conventions and extractions in dirs!!! Explaining also the basics of dopus is also good idea so that people know what it’s command does and how!!
Well done great idea!!!

Yes, thanks.
It is nice to have an installation and usage guide of some important apps.

P.s. if you want to edit videos, there is this avidemux tool.
It's freeware and it's enough for basic editing needs.

There's many free video editors:

- Kdenlive - My personal favorite open-source video editor. It's cross platform and works extremely well.
- Shotcut - Also open-source but I've personally found it to be slow and unstable.
- DaVinci Resolve - Frequently used in Hollywood for color grading but it's often being used for video editing too.
- Blender - The famous open-source 3D creation suite now has a non-linear video editor.

There's many more out there but I'd consider those to be the only ones to look into if free is key.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

I have video editing tools (Premiere Pro, Blender and DaVinci Resolve..) I am just super lazy.. Took me a week to put this video together after deciding I was going to do it.

Need to get myself a mini intro

I thought it was a little loud.. Maybe my headphones were on a little louder than expected. I'll look into this

Thanks, going forward the CLI will be used less a Dopus gets setup. Naturally there will be some things I'll need a shell for, but I'll be honest, I hate it.

I've never ever used an arexx script and I've been using Amiga's 30 years. Maybe it is time to look into this.

Find the second tutorial attached.

In this video I cover a couple things I missed in the first video, I show you how to install a missing library, crucial for music playback and we take a more detailed look at the basic configuration options.
