Hello and my first question.

Hi guys.

My father-in-law recently dropped off my wife's old A1200 (have this or it's going to the dump etc). Well, I was pretty excited to finally have an Amiga to play with since I could never afford one growing up (C64 for life!).

I'm just gathering the bits I need to set up a predictable Workbench WHDload setup. I just bought an ACA 1233n (26MHz version) and a CF to IDE adapter (just waiting for my CF cards).

My question is about video output. I'm planning to run it through my OSSC into a HDMI monitor. Should I get a Scart or VGA cable to connect the Amiga to the OSSC for best results?

I can't help you with the monitor issue, since i use only emulation

There is no difference between a VGA and a SCART cable as far as the Amiga is concerned. In both cases they carry the RGB signals from the video port.

Whether the inputs on the OSSC are different in this regard, I do not know. The Amiga video signal is 15kHz (i.e. a TV spec video signal) whereas VGA is 31kHz.

You should use the Scart input on the OSSC with the Amiga. It has a bit more signal filtering there, which the OSSC's VGA port lacks. You will get less jitters in your picture through Scart. It is still possible to get a sharp pixel perfect image though, don't worry.
