Cybervision 64
get that because it has a roxxler chip, and an automatic switch for aga/rtg... I guess cvppc is faster, but you need a manual switch... and yes, auto-switch is important to me ebay and amibench are good places to look for them.... |

The 3D bit of the CV64/3D is totally useless. :-)
C'mon, it's a Virge3D.. That was never a "real" 3D chip even in the PC world. And pros and cons: CV64 + Pretty fast Zorro III implementation + Built in passthrough - no scandoubler built in, you need one in the video slot or one that connects to the RGB port - No Zorro II support CV3D + A scandoubler with video switcher can be installed + Zorro III/II autosensing - Slightly slower bus speed than the CV64 - No passthrough unless you can find yourself a scandoubler module CVision PPC + Fast PCI bus + It actually has 3D features + The chipset is just about the most modern you can find in "Amiga" graphics cards. (however that doesn't mean it's in any way modern any more :-D) + doesn't take up a precious Zorro slot - CSIII or CSPPC required for operation - No passthrough per default, although I've seen automatic switchers that work with the CVPPC Last edited by Jope; 23 October 2005 at 10:10. |

And the CV64/3D only has 4mb video ram which is eaten up pretty quickly if you try to launch a Warp3D games like Freespace for example so buying a CV64/3D is only a good idea if you want a high res workbench for example

So... it looks like the CVision PPC is the better choice? I have a monitor switcher already.. so I can always get a scandoubler and the connect up through a switcher...
Then again I could always keep the AGA connected up to a TV 'cause that sits next to my monitor anyway.. and for aga games it won't make too much diff... Thanks for the advice |

Going to use a CV PPC myself in my A3000, I just hope it doesn't get fried in the tight A3000 desktop case There's the CMon monitor switcher which you can use with the CV PPC, think www.ggsdata.se still sells them |
