I'll never forgive myself for throwing away or smashing up the old computers I was given when I was a kid. Once, in a juvenile fit, I literally stomped a bunch of old computers to pieces, just because they were "useless" and I wanted to see their insides.

My collection would've included: Laser 200, Lambda 8300, Texas 99/4A, TRS 80, MSX and another MSX (two of many MSX 1 clones).

@Leffman

Well seeing as there were no Acorn or Miggys there then you are forgiven,

As for MSX machines apart from doorstops well best thing for them

So this nice little retro thread is nice and Wilma in her jumpsuit glory is the cherry on top

So which of these machines had the best keyboard, in terms of layout and feel ?!?

I say the C-128D was the best all-time keyboard for coding and general use, I remember back in the day and it was the shiznit for me

I used a NeXT for years and I quite liked the keyboards. There were two kinds and I slightly preferred the one not shown. It seems like lots of people love the 128D. Not me. I already had an Amiga 1000 when the 128D was released and I saw it as a failed attempt and mimicking the Amiga's classier design. The Amiga 1000's keyboard is still my favourite of all time. Compact with a slightly mushiness, perfect for my tastes. I could really crank along on that one.

Speccy+ 128 in Box

Not my thing TBH, but rarity value in it being a 128+ and
having the original packaging...

Sinclair Z88

Again, not really my thing but a cool little 'laptop' that is
still quite useful.

And another one

Dragon 32

Just to remind you what a POS looks like.

Oooo, an Oric1

Great little 8-bit...
...rumour has it that there's an EAB member with a spare
Atmos case if anyone wanted to upgrade.

Psion Series 3mx

The best PDA's ever made!!! Shame the clam-shell went out of fashion...
...still useful.

Sinclair ZX80

I guess this one deserves the props for being the first home
computer not to cost an arm & a leg - quite appallingly
unpleasant to use though.
Despite the damage, I suspect it will go for a few pennies.
Even masochists must have happy memories.

Atari Mega ST 1

Not sure about to 'coolness' of this one.

Speccy +

Gets in on the basis of the extras.

>>--Apricot Portable--<<

Oooo, in it's day every on-the-go systems engineer's wet
dream!
The temptation to shove some modern guts in there. I'll be
watching this auction closely...
...the last one I saw on fleaBay went for about £170.00
despite being diarrhoea brown.

Deserves a post to itself.

Three ZX81's

I hated mine sooo much - Happy memories.

A Beeb & two Masters

Cool? Is the Pope Polish..? Oh, um not any more.
One could fantasise over the possibilities:
That Beeb might be a B+128...
...one of the masters might be a Master-Turbo...
...the other might be a Master-512 or Scientific...
...who knows what upgrades / roms may be contained within.
Buying a Beeb is always an adventure - no two are ever quite
the same.

Another ZX81

Tandy TRS80 Model 1

It's amazing how many of these Tandy's high-street muscle
managed to shift to unsuspecting punters...
...still, in its day a passable computer. 1.77mhz Z80, 4kb of
RAM - the power! No wonder the C= PET sold so well...

PPC-512

Ignore the AMSTRAD badge - this looks so retro you just
have to love it...
...what? 'Rip the guts out & install an A600/A1200 mobo' did
you say? What a good idea.

Spectrum 48k

Have you ever wondered what fingering the anus of a corpse
feels like? Then buy one of these - you won't get arrested
for necrophilia but maybe you should be.

Yet another ZX81

Corpse in box
Fingers at the ready.

ZX Spectrum +
Is it my imagination or are lots of Sinclair 'computers' being
outed at the moment? Can't imagine why...

Bottom in box

Door Stop

2x C=64 - One of each

Now that's MUCH better. And this is an opportunity to test
the myth that the machine on the left didn't have such good
SID output...
...You buy, you try, you make up your own mind.

Boxed C=64
Not a 'bread-bin' model. Does that matter?

ZX Sphincer in Greece
Will help you finger slip in there.

Sirius 1

Can an old PC clone be cool?
Ever wonder what Chuck Peddle did after J.T. threw him out
of C=?
He made this: He saw the IBM XT and when he stopped
laughing did it properly. That's why it's cool.

HP 9836

Hey it's an Amiga clone! Well, 68k based anyway.

Sharp MZ-80A

Quite popular in the UK (especially in schools) until the Beeb came along...
I do like the poo-coloured keys.

C= Vic20

Nuf said...

Atari Portfolio

Rubbish! But you've gotta love that wacky shaped
case.

C= PC-1

Didn't sell back in the day & didn't sell when listed on fleaBay
last week...
...What were C= playing at? Sorry Zetr0 - tell me you didn't
buy the one you had.

Oric1
Now what was it that I should be mentioning..?
Oh-yes! ATMOS CASE.

Amstrad PPC-640

The PPC-512's big brother. Not that that matters if you're
going to butcher it...

BBC B
And a bunch of stuff - A good package if you're getting into
Beeb's for the first time.

Boxed Atari 800

An Atari 800 for £50.00..? Well, it is boxed in good condition
especially when you consider you'd have to pawn most of
your possessions & sell a kidney back in the day to buy one.
This looks like last week's 800 that's not sold...
...what's wrong with people these days?

Poo hole

Dragon 32

Yet another one, I wonder why..?

Issue 01 ZX Spectrum

Ok, I won't be rude about this one as it's likely to be quite
collectable...
...just don't try to use it or you'll burn a hole in your carpet!

Acorn Electron

Another type of TRS-80

I think Radio-Shags basic plan was: 'If we keep changing
the cases & model versions often enough the punters may
think we actually update them a bit, so buy a replacement
for lasts year's model that sucked so badly...'
'...the FOOLS!'

Speccy 48k + Microdrive
A microdrive may help the old A-hole probing a bit...

Haemorrhoid in a box

C= 64c

Hasta la vista bread-bin! Oooo, don't you love crushed velvet.

Ti99/4a
Going for a stupid price - not a surprise it's been re-listed.

Another Psion Series 3

This is the model that came with built-in Velcro(tm)

Sun IPX & IPC + Stuff

Ahhh, Old Sun workstations...
...beautifully made bits of kit. As the lister says
useful for home serving / firewall. Also these
could make really nice cases for any project
you may have up your sleeve...

...and there's more! Lot's of good stuff on fleaBay ATM.

That looks like a Radio Shack Color Computer (CoCo) 3 which are pretty decent little computers that can run OS9 and for which there are some amazing upgrades.

@gklinger:
Ok, ok. Rumbled
As you say; not bad old boxes with a strong following...
...apologies for taking the p*ss - and I suppose to the Dragon and it's owners too given its OS9 abilities...
...apart from its inability to display lower-case properly...

...but I will continue to make fun of the 'dead-flesh' spectrum

More 'informed' & 'unbiased' comment to follow:

Acorn A5000

Well, I've resisted the temptation quite well up to now...

Epson HX-20

I do like these things, always have done since I saw the
review in PCW years ago...
...Must be cool: I want one but have no idea why.

Tandy CoCo
Relisted - why?
I'll try not to be so rude this time.

Colour Genie EG-2000

BBC / Speccy generation...
...crap enough to be rare, rare enough to be cool..?

Compaq Portable

Sooo juicy with its plasma screen & retro lunchbox
styling. Stupid price being asked...
...which reminds me, whoever got the:
>>--Apricot Portable--<<
got a serious bargain! Had I even remotely suspected
it would go for so little I'd have kept a closer eye.

BBC B

Compaq Portable 2

Another hefty bit of retro-history. If you feel sufficiently
mean, imagine this refitted with modern components for the
occasional LAN-Party.

IBM Risc System 6000

If BIG is beautiful then maybe Big-Blue can be cool too. Hey! I'm a poet.
May even have enough grunt to host the EAB. I wonder what RCK's hosts would feel about a couple
of these taking up space rather than the current rack-mount jobs..?

C= Vic-20

I suspect that says it all...

C= C-16

I suspect that says it all... about C='s failure.
Not a bad computer, just the wrong computer.
