Gloom (Deluxe) - Saved Games?

Heh, folks.

I'm loving playing Gloom at the mo but it's a pain in the butt having to start from the beginning every day. Is there a way to save progress or start from a particular point?

You have to complete the stages to be able to restart from them as far as I remember.

I think there were 4 stages in total and each stage was divided into 3 or 4 levels....

Something like that... :-)

Hi, Peter.

I've played quite a way through (10 or more levels) it but it still doesn't let me start from anywhere other than the beginning.

You know what... Gloom is truly startling! Some of the concepts were ground-breaking, for example:

Being able to play and arcade game WITHIN the Gloom environment.
Being able to see through walls with the thermo goggles.
Transparency effects.
Ghosts that can move through walls.

Simple concepts but well executed and ahead of their time to some extent.

I agree - it was a really good game - obviously over shadowed by the development in PC Gaming at the time and when it was released a lot of people had already left the Amiga scene.

Still fun to play today though.
