Cannon Fodder Crash When Save

Hi
I am using Amiga Forever, workbench 3.x
I have updated WHDLoad, Installer etc.
Using Cannon Fodder V2 downloaded from
http://grandis.nu:81/eabsearch/searc...xclude=&limit=

The game works brilliantly but when I try to save, it bombs back to Workbench with an error "DOS Error #212 (object is not of required type) on writing save/BENC"

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong ?

Thanks
Ben

Maybe an Amiga Forever issue? It works fine here with normal WinUAE.

@Saghalie:

You asked a question but didn't specify whether it was intended for the most recent poster (me) or the original poster.

@Saghalie

Actually I just set up a quick A1200 in WINUAE outside Amiga Forever. I set it up with hard disk support and ran the same version of Cannon Fodder. When I saved the game, I got exactly the same error.

Downloaded the same game archive and saving+loading works perfectly fine with a ClassicWB Lite 3.1 setup in WinUAE. Maybe your unpacked archive is corrupted somehow (missing or broken folders/files).

So can I just check - my process is as follows :
Download lha from that link
Unpack the files to my shared folder that the Amiga has access to
In the emulator, drag the CannonFodder folder and inf file to my "Games" volume (which is linked to a newly created and formatted hdf file)
Then just open the CannonFodder folder and run the game

Have I missed any steps ?

You could posts pics from your unpacked games folder, including the sub folders inside. Or maybe some of the file attributes are broken (writable, readable...).

edit: Yeah, seems like a file attributes problem. Check this thread. It's about the Kickstarts Rom files for WHDLoad, but it seems to be the same problem.Unpacking the lha/zip archives inside Amiga emulation is always the best option to avoid such issues.

Never extract Amiga archives in Windows, it's bound to mess up something.

You said you use ClassicWB, it comes with a nice Directory Opus setup.
Only use that for packing or extracting Amiga archives.

Anyway, since Cannon Fodder doesn't require kickstart in DEVS I have upped the bootable hdf to the zone as well.
