I wish birdie, titleshadow and font shadow-outline options were implemented right into VisualPrefs when it was still being updated :/

OK, fixed for V1.0h, which is now available.

I wouldn't recommend adding MCP. It still has bugs and is unreliable in places. And let's just wait if/when ram-handler is patched to avoid any MCP-related ram patch...

You don't have to enable every feature of mcp. I have yet to encounter any bugs caused by mcp and I have been using it for maybe more than 15 years.

mcpramlibpatch and patchcontrol programs of mcp on the other hand are absolutely essential since without it no Amiga is stable.

Out of curiosity;

When I installed BB 3 and 4 (I assume it was the old version from Gullivers site) onto my AOS3.9 setup A600 with Vampire, the PCMCIA and CD rom had issues.
Espesially the PCMCIA could hang the whole system, and it refused to boot the machine while I had a CF card in the PCMCIA.

With this new version, has anyone tested if this is still an issue?

you should report this on the apollo forum or their irc channel.
the forum itself lists some pcmcia issues already. mybe you find a solution there

I just updated my website.

Anyway, James (Minuous) has removed and replaced several of those files you mentioned due to instability issues and bug reports that we have received during these years, so dont take that old page from 2014 as a guide (anyway, I updated it). You should better take a look at the readme that comes with the BB3&4 archive.

Either way, if you are for some odd reason still interested in those components, I can probably take a look on my drives and upload them to The Zone!.

OK, I have released BB3&4 1.3, changes are:

* Updated icon.library from 46.4.440 to 46.4.443.
* Updated Say from 37.4 to 38.5.
* Fixed some THE-related bugs.
* Fixed wrong Austrian and Spanish filenames.

i have a question: the new setpatch line suggested by installer is missing scsi.device.
Quote:
C:SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES console.device,dos,FileSystem.resource,ram-handler,shell QUIET
while mine looks like this:
Quote:
C:SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES scsi.device,console.device,dos,FileSystem.resource,ram-handle,shell QUIET
should i remove scsi.device from mine?
and there's a slightly difference between makelink line before executing user-startup. suggestion:
Quote:
C:MakeLink RAM:disk.info ENVARC:SYS/def_RAM.info SOFT
mine:
Quote:
SYS:C/MakeLink RAM:disk.info ENVARC:SYS/def_RAM.info SOFT
there's another question, there are genesis related icons in sys:internet and in sys:internet/genesis.
see attached screenshot. i guess, everything genesis related belongs into sys:internet/genesis folder?
so can i delete everything genesis related outside of this folder?

as for THE, still have to edit script file in WBStartup, as THE prefs has problems remembering title and arguments...

can the old say util still be found anywhere? because the old (console) one i could easily quit by pressing enter.
so i could copy the old one to c: while the new one remains in sys:utilities, would be a good solution...
//edit: nevermind, i found the old version of say and as announce i put it into C: drawer, so i have both versions.
btw. there is a program called "translate" located in C:. icon info says: "v1.0 (16.05.1995 01:42:56)"
if i doubleclick that, a program error occurs (87000004)... second screenshot... what is this translate?

btw. what was the last workbench disk which contained say? was it workbench 2.0? i'm looking for an adf.

>should i remove scsi.device from mine?

AFAICT it makes no significant difference, when running WinUAE.

>slightly difference between makelink line before executing user-startup.

The two lines are equivalent, your version would presumably be slightly faster as the command path doesn't need to be searched.

>as for THE, still have to edit script file in WBStartup, as THE prefs has problems remembering title and arguments...

OK, I'll look into it.

>if i doubleclick that, a program error occurs (87000004)... second screenshot... what is this translate?

It's part of the translator42.lha package, it shouldn't be there and should be deleted.

>btw. what was the last workbench disk which contained say? was it workbench 2.0? i'm looking for an adf.

IIRC that would be WB2.04.
