Well in the spectrums deffense when I hear the word spectrum I immediatly think of chaos and back 2 skool, hear the words c64 and after a bit of thinking i came up with cybernoid 2. If the colours hadnt been so horrid (or quirky if you dont want to get upset) on the speccy i would have thought it to be perfect.
I still really like my Atari just that the support for it was utterly horrid |

Hardware-wise I liked the 128k Speccy best, with the Amstrad models close behind.

The 128k was however the best-looking of the lot, very stylish and quite functional. Shame it was plagued by bugs in the ROM though. D. |

"But my USA C64 trashed the speccy", Parsec
Well ... there's only two things that c64 was better: doing marketing at the magazines and SID. Go check the hardware for yourself, and play some games. That's what I do to C64: |

its really nice to see we are still fighting over the same things i would never have guesed back in the day we would have taken our fights from the skool yard to digital forums in 25yrs time. i loved both machines - i played a wider variation of games on the C64 and loved it most for Bruce Lee , Archon and Way of the Exploding Fist. But the speccy to me was pure magic for Julian Gollop games alone. Chaos and Battlecars were pure genius - imo |

Hmmmm I was quite a lucky kid, as most had to choose either a C64 or a Sinclair computer, I had both as a kid, so - some of my fondest memories -
Commodore 64
Sinclair Spectrum
yeah.... I could go on.... rest assured no matter what system you have, had or choose... there's plenty of great gaming to be had! |

@Zetr0 great to see you name "Stonkers" that surely must be the first example of a RTS, Command and Conquer style game. I used to spend ages playing that game and I don't think it got the attention it deserved.
Another little gem, curveball is Colony - suggest peeps hunt that bad boy down. I have the original £2.99 release by Mastertronic |

I have Guadacanal and a samurai game (by Konami, IIRC) for the Spectrum. Both are RTS games. I think we can safely say that RTS games were around in the 80's, but whether we could name the first one is another thing... Regards, Lonewolf10 |

When will these dickheads realise that a remake of the original computers would sell infinitely better than these useless heaps of shit. |

I saw this video of what it takes to get a real speccy working in the US.
[ Show youtube player ] It's an absolutely mental amount of work and money just to get the original hardware switched on for NTSC users. |

Didn't watch the video, you mean there's more to it than buying a 110V ACDC adapter and buying a PAL-compatible TV/Monitor? I have very (extremely) strong doubts that that wouldn't fix him right up.

Well, he had to do a composite mod to the little rubber wonder as well.
However I would have thought that, yes, the need to acquire a specialist television and a step-up adapter with UK 3 pin plug output was enough to put most people off! |
