Simple script utility

Is there a proggy that checks whether the system is running under emulation and returns a WARN code if that's the case?

Something I could use like this:

Code:
C:UAECheck
if warn
 ;running WinUAE setup
else
 ;running normal setup
endif

Uhmm... Why?

I only see two possibilies, doing something naughty or hacks that are not supported and will break in future versions.

Answer is no. Of course depending on configuration, there are things that can be used to detect emulation but it is unsupported.

I'm up to no mischief

Here's an example:

Lets say I want to have a single disk (ADF) that has a couple of serial terminal programs and I want to set up some useful aliases. In WinUAE when you tick the RTS/CTS option any program that uses the serial port should have hardware handshaking turned off. So I could use this script utility to set the correct options depending on the environment I'm using (real thing/emulation).

Or I have a Hard Drive with a single boot partition and like to use it in both the real Amiga and WinUAE. I could configure the system to take advantages of emulation (more speed, extra memory, new devices etc.) during startup.

Ok, something like "version uaehf.device" (or uaescsi.device etc..) is probably good enough solution.

That's a good idea. But how about instances when I'm not using any of the uae specific devices (just ADF with no real or virtual HD). Is there a device, resource, handler etc. that is always present and you can use the version command on it?

No. (and there won't be because it will be misused)
