AMOS or Blitz Basic 2

Some of you may have seen in my other topic that i have a couple of floppies, one with AMOS on and one with Blitz Basic 2 on, i was wondering which of these is the better to use? And how to properly use them, such as tutorials ect.

Amos is easier to pick up, blitz is more powerful and more useful on newer/different hardware.

Blitz also integrates OS legal and applications better (Intuition support etc)

getting Blitz to work reliably, or finding decent documentation on commands is very difficult though.

Although Horace has issues with reliability I have not.. It worked just a few weeks ago when I was compiling some old sources..

Documentation is think on the ground though, which does make it difficult.. Perseverance is the key here!

Ok thanks guys, i'll probably start with AMOS, as i've already used that a little and seems a little more user friendly (i.e i just found out i can do all the commands via keyboard instead of a mouse, using the alt/shift/ctrl/command keys in conjuction with the Function keys.)

Dreedo, if your age in your profile is correct, then I would suggest using Amos first. It was the language I first properly started on and it is a breeze to learn compared to blitz basic. Although BB is more powerful/faster, Amos should be fast enough for anything you want to do.

Ok thanks guys, i have been using various game maker programs on the PC for a number of years, since i was about 8 i have been using RPG Maker, and i started using the Game Maker program in 2007, as well as starting Flash in 2009. So i have a little experience but relatively none for the Amiga.

P.S i dont know what im going to code, i'll probably find out after i've gotten used to it.

Blitz Basic still developed as AmiBlitz3 and Amos don´t. AmiBlitz3 has an on-line help for commands and a dedicated forum in www.Amiforce.de
Amiblitz has intuition support and can make programs that run in newer hardware and can make better gadgets with TUI and NTUI

I had the same problem some months ago and opted for AmiBlitz.
Shame there are so few tutorials/docs about how to program AmiBlitz

Well i only habve AMOS and Blitz Basic 2, so i'll probably stick with AMOS for the moment.

By the way skateblind, how long do i have to wait for an admin to approve my account, as the forum doesnt seem to get many posts, and i was wondering if it'll be a few days yet?

hehe reminds me of a game forum i once knew, admin went off for 9 months, the forum only had 2 active members, i posted and got 3 replies from 3 members in about 5 hours.

Ah okies, just being sure.

I've only ever dabbled in Blitz, but I didn't get very far due to impatience and lack of documentation. This thread has made me consider AMOS again though. Is there any particular tutorial that you've found useful so far?

AMOS manual and AMCAF (extension) manual on http://amos.pspuae.com might help?

There's also the "Ultimate AMOS" book's disk (as ADF) uploaded there which has some good examples on it.

To be honest if you've only got an A600 then I wouldn't bother with the new versions of AmiBlitz anyway. It's far more suited to high end Amigas than anything else.
