Dragon Quest (also known as Dragon Warrior) more or less defined the Japanese RPG genre (read more here. Zelda defined the Action RPG genre (although it wasn't the first one as Hydlide came before).

My answer to the former question is: yes.

J-RPG = Japanese Role Playing Game.... they have a totally different style, story and gameplay experience compared to western style RPG games. I love both types

JRPG could also mean "Java Role Playing Game".

A Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy'ish game on Amiga ???
HELL YEAH MAN

Chrono Trigger has got to be THE J-RPG of them all.
I can't even remember exactly how many times I've completed that game, several times on SNES, a couple of times on PlayStation and currently I'm playing it on my DSi.
