Anyone else notice issue 1 and 2 are missing and in their place are cover scans only?

No, I hadn't noticed.

I've not yet had the time or the will to check it exhaustively.

However, I don't suppose it took long to spot the problem with issues 1 and 2.

I wonder what else is missing?

I also think it is a genuine mistake, but they should at least then answer my mails asking for info!

My set arrived in the mail last night. Everything looks Great!

I was unable to view a directory of the discs' contents on one of my Vista machines, but the DVD's work flawlessly on another machine. Most likely a firmware issue on my DVD drive.

Two Thumbs up.

ok, Mort and Zzap webmaster contacted me, they will send a new pack with an extra goodie to make it up, it may have gotten lost in post (rare but happens, I know)
If the original package shows up one day, I will of course send it back to them!
So I am keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks for the good news, dirkies!

It gives the rest of us the knowledge that it will be worthwhile to order more from the unique product range in future.

Ok, got the DVDs now, but some issues:

all discs detached during transfer from their placeholder and are now horribly scratched, but still readable, will use Unstoppable Copier tool to salvage them.
it contains the DVD of Commodore format instead of Commodore User (?)

Hmm, will contact the creators again...

My God! You're not having much luck at all with this, mate.

That happened to me once. The playing surface of the disc looked like a skating rink, but somehow it was still readable.

This problem is caused by using cheap cases and not pushing the discs fully home, so that the retaining lugs fail to latch properly.

There is a simple method of preventing the discs from rattling about inside the case and getting damaged when they become disengaged, and that is to pack the empty space between the discs, or between the disc and case when there is only one, with a small piece of bubble wrap.

This will add very little weight to the package and is a foolproof way of preventing damage to the disc(s) in transit, and yet I have never seen it done!

If you have a somewhat decent internet connection, you can also download this set (8.5GB) from underground-gamer.com, if you need an invite, just holler.

Do you all realise that you can download torrents of this and every other collection being sold on that site for free from Underground-Gamer?

Please explain. I read this whole thread and no mention of torrents has been made.

Funny thing is, that post wasn't like that when I posted mine... make of that what you will.

Anyway, the point I was actually looking to make is that the torrents for these magazine scan collections have been available for some time. I downloaded some of them over 2 years ago! Therefore I'm sure this guy is ripping people off by burning them to DVD and claiming he did all the hard work to benefit the community. I always hate it when I see this happening.

Er... not edited by anyone and 3 hours earlier. I'm quite sure it was like that when you posted yours.

But the scans Mort's selling he DID scan manually himself; everly single page. And the site makes no bones of the fact that some scans are available for download elsewhere. Buying the DVD is simply a convenience thing. I mean, you can buy a Zzap DVD and the Zzap scans are all available on the site itself.

I just don't see how anyone's being "ripped off". If you wanna search for the mags and download 'em yourself, what's stopping you? If you don't have the time or inclination, you can buy a DVD. And again, all the DVDs have been scanned by Mort, so he DID do all the hard work.

Yep, I totally agree. Mort's providing a great service by selling the Zzap DVDs (All of them!), and only interested parties need apply.
