Hello from Central Coast California USA
Just picked up an A500 from the Netherlands and got it running today with a step-up power converter, SCART adapters and a Sony RGB PVM that supports PAL and 50hz! Very excited to clean it up. I'm amazed at the graphics and audio quality for the time! I grew up on PC XT, 286, 386, 486, etc. I totally missed out on the Amiga train. Looking forward to catching up!

Great you got a PAL machine to open up the library of games for you. I grew up with the A500 and so many titles to enjoy.
Are you going to put a Gotek floppy emulator or something else on your machine to open up possibilities? |

I saw the PAL machines were a better buy for the larger game library so I went for it. A bit more expensive to pick up all the adapters needed in the US but very worth it in my opinion.
I plan on setting up an external Gotek as my unit is already wired to support booting from DS1 with a toggle switch on the floppy controller. It came with an external 5.25" drive which is interesting. My local Goodwill store actually had two sealed boxes of 5.25" floppies. Couldn't believe it. The hardest part is figuring out where it'll live. These machines take up a bit more space than modern desks were designed for, plus the PVM is anything but compact.
