Trouble copying from amiga to smb server with smbfs

Hi Everyone!

I've set up an iconx that runs a smbfs connect line and connects to my smb share as an Amiga volume. I can read and copy files from the samba share just fine. However if I try to copy a file from the amiga to the samba share, it will just stall after writing approximately 16.6k of the file.

My network adapter is a parallel port plip box connected to the parallel port of my A2000. I had an older copy of smbfs in my dh0:c, and I've since tried version 1.102 and this is where I get the stall at 16.6k of a file copy. The previous version I had (not sure what version it was) would write 4k and then give a Amiga DOS error saying the Object is invalid.

It's extremely nice to be able to move files to the amiga with smbfs, but it would be absolutely great if I could likewise copy files back to the samba share from the amiga.

I've read about setting the stacksize to at least 20000, but I'm not absolutely sure how to do this. I added a line stack 20000 to the file that iconx is running, but it didn't appear to change anything.

Any ideas that might help me out?

You should revert to version 1.74 of SMBFS. All later versions are experimental and can cause various strange effects. SMBFS is currently being worked on, but it's far from stable.

Do not try to access Windows shares unless your Windows is XP. Samba shares work quite well.

The stack can be set by using the Stack command just before the smbfs command.

stack 40000
smbfs workgroup home //server/share

Okay, I've reverted to 1.74 of smbfs and it now works great! I also added the stack command, but not sure I even needed it.

Thanks Thomas!!
