Hi All ...Newbie here
When it comes to Amiga I am a complete newbie...so be gentle with me
In all honesty I am less about software than hardware. I am very much about resurrection of retro computers particularly Comodore. To this end I now have a working PET 4032 and 8050 floppy drive. 4x C64s ..3x Vic20s ..2 Plus 4s ..and a C16 I once wrote games for Mr Micro a couple of which were distributed by Comodore back in the day. but alas I never migrated to the Amiga ...so only 8bit ..no 16 bit My Interest these days is aquiring ..repairing and making old computers live again. My journey into the world of Amiga started a few months back when I thought it time I added these wonderful machines to my mini museum. To that end I aquired an Amiga 500 ..and 2 x A600s.. One of which did not recognise a hard drive of any kind .. some traces repaired underneath the IDE connector fixed that. I am now looking to make my A500 as good as it can be. The floppy drive wasn't working but is now. And I repaired a 512k trapdoor card for it .. One dead chip. I recently aquired a more modern upgrade trapdoor card from Bruktmoped on fleabay..which was yer basic 512k ..but has provision to expand the A500 to 1mb chipram and 1.5mb slow ram ...and to add an RTC. The pcb is now fully populated ..and I have also built up one of his Gary adapter boards. but I am having trouble finding info regarding the jumpers and expansion potential. Thus I will post a more detailed request in the hardware section soon. rgds to all and long live these beautiful machines of the past. rgds VS |

Hi there and welcome to the forums here! That's quite the nice collection of classic machines you have there. Please feel free to ask what ever questions you might have. There is a big wealth of knowledge here. The 500 and 600 have many options for expansion depending on what you want, where you want to go and how much money you have. One thing you might want to look at is recapping the Amiga's in case you have some leak caps on those machines.

You're very welcome. Try AmiBay.com, I've seen a couple A1200's come through there recently.

Hi Vipersan !
Contrary to you, i'm addicted ONLY to Amiga and i use ONLY emulation Since 2002 i use WinUAE and it's a great way to have ALL Commodore Amiga systems But surely to have the real things will give to you a lot of satisfaction Just ask in the forum, you will surely find help about all your hardware issues By the way, welcome to the forum |

Just took the plunge and added a boxed Comic Relief pack A1200 to my collection..
Comes with all the original software/hardware and in nice condition. I must be mental but having restored and modded an A500 and repaired and modded an A600 I guess it was only a matter of time until I added the missing unit to my collection. I tried bidding on a couple of incomplete and 'untested' units on ebay ...but set a limit of £ ..150 each time. They always went for more and I wasn't prepared to chase the bids to stupid levels. So I may well have paid too much at £300...but this one is boxed complete, recapped and working so I guess no refurb work this time. Time to pull in my wings for a bit now as my piggy bank is feeling a bit light. For now at least ..my collection is complete. rgds VS Last edited by Vipersan; 10 May 2019 at 17:27. |
