You do not need WHDLoad for Wings. Wings has it's own hard disk installer. It runs fine on all of my Amiga computers. I have even made a few Wings CDs and sold them on eBay. Wings can be played directly from a CD. So you see, you do not need WHDLoad to run Wings from your Amiga's hard disk.

What Amiga model are you trying to run Wings on? I have Wings installed on my Amiga 2500 and on my Amiga 3000 and it runs great on both machines. I have also tried it on my Amiga 1000 and my Amiga 500 and the game runs just fine.

What he says is that Wings works on all stock Amigas, and the WHDLoad works on most, if not all, accelerated Amigas as well. That's what WHDLoad is for, to make it work on as many Amigas as possible. So don't say WHDLoad is not necessary.

My Amiga computers ARE accelerated. Most of the time I can get a game to run from the hard drive WITHOUT WHDLoad. You just have to know what you are doing and how to tweek the code. The biggest problem is the 1-meg and 2-meg Agnus chips. A lot of games do not like to see more then 512K of Chip ram and expect the Fast ram to start right after the 512K of Chip ram. I have found out that this is THE MAIN REASON why many games work just fine with the OCS chipset, but will not work properly with the ECS or AGA chipsets. So, these games will work just fine on an accelerated OCS Amiga, but not on an accelerated ECS or AGA machine. Many games do NOT like graphics boards either, so turn off your graphics board before running games. If you are using the Picasso96 driver with your video board, the screen border will be black for all graphics board modes and grey for all Amiga screen modes. So, this is a way that you can tell what screen mode you are in. Keep in mind that many of the vintage Amiga games were actually written for the "skinny" Agnus which only supported 256K of Chip ram. This Agnus was only found in the Amiga 1000. The first "fat" Agnus chips only supported 512K of Chip ram. The 1-meg and 2-meg Agnus chips were not released until after 1989. Commodore went out of business in 1994. Most Amiga games were produced BEFORE 1989. So, think about what I have said here, and you will finally understand why your games are not working properly. On an ECS or AGA Amiga, you must fool the game into thinking that there is only 512K of Chip ram. I'll let you figure it out from here.

Sometimes it pays.. like being able to use DblPAL which WHDLoad aint supporting. (Biing!, Bloodnet and Conan for example)

Biing! uses Hires Images, so you get flickering unless you run DBLPal.

I had left my Multisync Monitor at my parents when I went to my own flat Years ago, so I cant tell for sure now, but DBLPal had a cleaner look even on lowres modes ( no scanlines? )

My Point is though that Games that were written cleanly enough and adhering to WB-Conventions can run better without stuffing them into a WHDLoad-install. We all know how many of those exist
