AmiBay - Win a Amiga 4000D in a tower case delivered to your address of choice

I received a PM from timtheloon on AmiBay a few weeks ago and since then we have been discussing his idea and suggestion.

The competition has been running on AmiBay for a couple of weeks and now that I've got the wrinkles out of the system I thought I would extend the competition to EAB members.

Quote:
Here is your chance to win an Amiga 4000D in a tower case for 3 euros yes 3 euros and this includes shipping (Worldwide).

Spec of winning machine:
A4000D motherboard fitted in a RBM tower (recapped by Bebek)
RBM bus board
030 A3630 Processor Board
Retina RTG Card
4GB CF card
CD Rom
Gotek Drive

Reason for this Competition: There are a few reasons for this competition
Reason #1: I need to reduce my Collection.

Reason #2: You may all know Sardine one of the Administrators on AmiBay you either love him or hate him. So here is a little back story. Many moons ago I was chatting to Sardine and in this conversation I said “if I ever get an A4000T I will find a way to get him one of my spare A4000D” thinking to myself I was very unlikely to find one, but true to my word, hopefully this is the way I can achieve this.

Reason #3: Gives a substantial donation to Amibay.

How the Competition is going to work:
Entries are €3 or £2.62 per entry, no limit on amount of entries, each entry gives you one chance to win this machine.

I need a minimum of 1000 entries this gives a goal total of €3000 this allows for:

€1000 to cover the cost off the winning machine and the cost of shipping it worldwide.
€1000 for sardines machine and shipping it to him.
€1000 donation to Amibay.

If the competition achieves more than 1000 entries the entry cost from then on will be divided between Amibay and TimTheLoon, i.e. €1.50 (£1.32) Amibay & €1.50 (£1.32) to me.

If however the competition does not make the 1000 entries mark, sadly the competition may not be able to go ahead and you will be refunded or you can choose to leave your entry fee as a donation to Amibay. So your support on this competition is crucial for it to go ahead.

Payment will be sent to an Amibay controlled PayPal Account so I cannot go off spending it all.

The table will be created and maintained by AmiBay staff and will be updated within the competition thread on a regular basis.

Closing date of the competition will be 10th December 2018, so get your entries in ASAP. This will hopefully allow me to ship the Amiga to the lucky winner for a nice Christmas Present.

This Competition has been Authorised to go ahead by Amibay and will be monitored by Davideo.
Although as long as we sell more than 667 tickets within the time limit of 10th December 2018 then the competition may conclude as we will have received the minimum required.

Of course the more tickets we sell the more that will be donated to AmiBay.

Entries are €3 or £2.62 per entry, no limit on amount of entries, each entry gives you one chance to win this machine.

For further information please send an Email to competitions@amibay.com or PM me on here or AmiBay.

Thanks, Dave

Good idea.

I certainly need a decent Amiga machine for AmigaOS betatesting, and cant really afford the amount one of this cool machines costs nowadays. So I see it as a tiny oportunity to both eventually get the machine and support Amibay.

Good luck with the endeavour!

Sorry, but I think this forum here at EAB is not the right place for a competition, a lottery or for playing with money in any way, even if you may have good intentions, want to help somebody and contribute one of your systems. This is just my personal opinion: EAB should be used for technical discussions. Ebay or AmiBay are better places to do that.

@PeterK

Just to be clear I did ask a GlobalMod if this was ok to post on EAB and was given permission to post it.

If the Admins/Mods agree with your comments then it can be removed if they want.

Some people don't know about AmiBay. I didn't until a couple years ago. I think this pulls attention away from eBay, which to me, is a very good thing. Prices/quality are often better than eBay.

You have to remember 'fgh' that the winner could also live anywhere in the world so lets say the 'winner' lives in Australia, or even New Zealand, the cost to post to them is considerable higher! close to 300 Euro. so I have taken this into account when I asked if I could do this competition.

I am also trying to help a fellow Amigain get an A4000D too.

I think if you were lucky enough to win an A4000D for 3 Euro, most people would be ecstatic

Tim sent me an Email a couple of weeks ago and for personal reasons I'd left it on the back burner to deal with after the anniversary of my fathers death.

Any how the problem is that due to unforeseen work commitments Tim will not be able to post the 4000 out until after Christmas as he has got to work up to the 23rd of December.

It would make sense not to have this hanging about in the postal system over the Christmas/New Year period so it will be sent out ASAP after the New Year.

So the closing date for the competition will be extended up to the end of the Christmas period if required.

The above is subject to the minimum tickets being sold.

We need to sell a lot more yet.

I'll be buying some more in memory of my dad as a way of hopefully donating to AmiBay and possibly getting a reward

this isnt a normal competition this is a lottery same as those scammy ebay like sites where you pay for each bid
surprised this is even allowed here
there no way to tell if any of this is honest etc
and only winner in this is the 1 collecting all the money
and his #1 stated reason for this is to sell off his stuff ofc for maximum profit
i see this tim guy in amibay 24/7 buyin up stuff
also since you brought this over here why doesnt EAB get any of this "donation"?

@nexus

Just to be clear the person collecting the money is me and the funds received to date are being held in an AmiBay controlled Paypal account.

Tim has no access to this account.

The money will not be released until the winner is drawn and then possibly only after the machine has arrived at the destination.

To date only two people have indicated that they are members of EAB all others are members of AmiBay.

Unless we sell a lot more tickets then the competition will close and all money received will be returned to the senders.

This has been and is a lot of work for me and is being carried out for the love of the community and not for financial gain on my part.

Davideo: Did you remove my post in the amibay thread just because it was critical of the unusual raffle concept, or did you find that it violated any rules?
